Vlade Divac: Kings Won't Sacrifice Future Cap Space For Playoff Push

Dec 26, 2018 11:51 PM

Vlade Divac stated that while he is willing to make a trade to help the Sacramento Kings' playoff push, it will not come at the expense of a potential $60 million in free cap space this summer.

When asked if the Kings were a playoff team, Divac said "Uh… right now, yeah. If you look at the standings, we’re in the playoffs. But are we desperate to do it? No, we’re not. Do we want to be there? Yeah. Are we going to push? Yeah. The players are playing for it. We are supporting it. If I have to do something to help them, yeah I will do it. But not just from desperation and to sacrifice everything that we’ve built".

The Kings currently have $11 million in cap space and no first-round pick in 2019.

Divac also added that he is still open to adding a first-round pick this season, saying "I have room to do that (by taking on another team’s ‘bad’ contracts in exchange for the pick). So if I can convert (that into a pick), yes. But it’s not something (where) I’m desperate to do it. If it comes, great. If it doesn’t, I’m fine".

Buddy Hield Reveals He's 26 Years Old, Not 25 As Listed

Dec 21, 2018 12:34 PM

After celebrating his birthday earlier this week, Buddy Hield clarified that he's 26-years-old, one year older than his listed 25 years of age.

When asked why the official NBA website has him listed at 25-years-old, Hield responded “that’s their fault, not my fault. The first time I saw it on Wikipedia, my mom said, ‘Why do they have your age wrong?’ I said, ‘I have no idea.’ ”

Hield said his conscience was clear and that the Kings front office knows of his real age.

Hield added, "I came over with a passport. My passport has 1992 on it. My driver's license has 1992 on it. I just think people got their information from Wikipedia or wherever, and they just went with it. They just got it wrong.”

Kings Looking For Help At Small Forward

Dec 20, 2018 2:01 PM

In light of Iman Shumpert's hip injury that forced Bogdan Bogdanovic and Buddy Hield to split minutes between shooting guard and small forward, the Sacramento Kings are looking to add another wing.

According to Zach Lowe, "the Kings are one of those teams who are obsessed with 'Well, we don't have a real 3. We need to get a real 3. Shump's our 3, but he's a fake 3", while adding that a lack of length is an issue for Hield and Bogdanovich in defending the position long-term.

One of the early surprises of the season, the Kings have no first-round pick in 2019 and $11 million in cap space, making them potential buyers at the trade deadline.

De’Aaron Fox: I'm The Fastest Person In The League

Dec 20, 2018 1:03 AM

De'Aaron Fox claimed he was the fastest player in the NBA going baseline to baseline off the dribble.

Speaking in an upcoming episode of "Posted Up With Chris Haynes", Fox stated "I’m No. 1. … I be watching film and I be looking at my feet and I be like, ‘Man, there’s no way people think I’m not the fastest person.’”

He then compared his speed to other point guards, saying “I’m faster than John Wall...I’m faster than Westbrook. … If we’re talking about from baseline to baseline with the ball in my hands, I’m definitely the fastest person in the league.”

The 20-year-old Fox is averaging 17.9 points and 7.3 assists per game in his second season.

Dave Joerger: Fox-Bagley Are The Next Durant-Westbrook

Dec 17, 2018 7:07 PM

Dave Joerger pushed back hard on the suggestion that his comments about Luka Doncic on Sunday were a continuation of his rift with the front office of the Sacramento Kings.

"There's no veiled shots at anybody," said Joerger.

Joerger then compared the combination of Marvin Bagley and De'Aaron Fox to Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.

"When we drafted Marvin at 2, we were high-fiving like crazy," Joerger continued. "We got the right guy for us. This isn't going to be a story in three days and it'll be definitely buried five years from now when we have the next Durant-Westbrook. That's how good they're gonna be."

Pelicans, Pistons, Kings Identified As Active Buyers On Trade Market

Dec 12, 2018 9:08 AM

The New Orleans Pelicans, Detroit Pistons and Sacramento Kings are three of the most active buyers on the trade market.

The typical start of trade season is Dec. 15 when most players who signed deals in the offseason are eligible to be dealt.

The Pelicans are feeling pressure to build around Anthony Davis before he become eligible to sign a supermax extension this offseason.

Tom Gores wants the Pistons to return to the playoffs and they own their first round pick.

The Kings can offer the large expiring contracts of Zach Randolph and Iman Shumpert to upgrade their team.

Kings Looking To Improve Current Team On Trade Market

Dec 10, 2018 5:38 PM

The Sacramento Kings have been better than many expected and will be attempting to secure a playoff spot in a season in which they don't own their first round pick.

"Sacramento is not incentivized to lose," said Brian Windhorst. "If anything, Sacramento will be gunning to think they have a chance to make the playoffs. Sacramento is actually one of the teams I've heard is out there on the trade market looking to improve itself because they have no incentive to tank.

"I don't know what possibly the trade could be, but I've heard that is out there."

The Kings haven't reached the playoffs since 2006.
