Pacers Open Contract Extension Talks With Myles Turner

Dec 24, 2022 12:48 AM

The Indiana Pacers and Myles Turner have opened up discussions for a contract extension, sources told Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The Pacers, who have $25 million in cap space, have discussed a renegotiation-and-extension deal with Turner's agent.

The team can offer Turner up to $19.1 million more on top of his current contract of $18 million this season for an individual max of $37.1 million. They could then drop his salary down in upcoming seasons.

Still at the initial phase of discussions, the two sides have until March 1 to reach a deal.

Sources add that the Pacers also remain open minded on the trade market, with the Lakers and Raptors having shown interest in Turner.

The New York Knicks have reached out to the Toronto Raptors with interest in trading for OG Anunoby.

Anunoby was mentioned in trade rumors during the offseason, but the Raptors elected to keep him.

Anunoby is averaging 18.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game this season, which are both career highs.

Jakob Poeltl Drawing Interest From Raptors

Dec 15, 2022 8:52 AM

Jakob Poeltl has lifted his game to new heights since re-signing with the San Antonio Spurs in 2020. He's become a full-time starter for the first time two seasons ago and has put up career-best numbers since.

But Poeltl's future in San Antonio remains murky. The Spurs have increasingly used him as an offensive hub (Poeltl is averaging a career-high 3.5 assists per game), in addition to his elite rim protection and rebounding. But San Antonio is rebuilding, and Poeltl could net a nice return via trade.

The 7-foot-1 center's original team is reportedly interested in bringing him back. The Toronto Raptors have retained interest in Poeltl since they traded him to the Spurs in the deal that brought Kawhi Leonard north. The Boston Celtics have also been linked to Poeltl, but for now the Celtics appear to be content with their roster as is.

Rival Executives Keeping An Eye On Raptors

Dec 10, 2022 9:39 AM

The Toronto Raptors have hovered around .500 all season. After a loss in Orlando on Friday, Toronto is 13-13 on the season.

That underwhelming start has rival front office executives watching to see what Masai Ujiri will do with this underachieving bunch. Ujiri is known for taking big swings when things aren't going how he wants on the floor.

Fred VanVleet and Gary Trent Jr. both have player options for next season that they are expected to opt out of. If one, or both, aren't seen as part of the future, Ujiri could choose to get aggressive on the trade market.

The Raptors are also expected to evaluate the long-term viability of Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby and Scottie Barnes playing together. All three are similarly sized, long-armed players, but there are questions about the floor spacing when all three are in the same lineup.
