The Toronto Raptors have filled their open roster spot by signing Armoni Brooks to a multi-year deal. Brooks recently completed two 10-day contracts with Toronto.

During his 10-day deals with the Raptors, Brooks appeared in eight games. He previously played in 41 games with the Houston Rockets.

The second year of Brooks' deal is reportedly partially guaranteed.

Though he's struggled some in the NBA, Brooks has been a sharpshooter in two years in the G League. Brooks has shot 39.2% on 6.9 three-point attempts per game in 60 G League contests.

The New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers and Toronto Raptors discussed a three-team trade ahead of the deadline, but sources tell Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report that the talks fell apart when the Knicks sought more draft compensation.

The deal was centered on Cam Reddish and Alec Burks to the Lakers, Talen Horton-Tucker and Nerlens Noel going to the Raptors, while the Knicks would have acquire Goran Dragic plus Toronto's 2022 first round pick.

"They are always trying to squeeze out an extra second-round pick here and an extra second-round pick there," said a high-ranking Eastern Conference executive.

The Raptors eventually traded Dragic and a first round pick to the San Antonio Spurs for Thaddeus Young and a second round pick.

The Toronto Raptors have agreed to sign Armoni Brooks to a second 10-day contract.

Brooks has appeared in four games with the Raptors. 

Earlier this season, Brooks appeared in 41 games for the Houston Rockets where he averaged 6.2 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 16.8 minutes.

The Toronto Raptors signed guard Armoni Brooks to a 10-day contract. In a related move, Toronto terminated the 10-day contract for forward D.J. Wilson.

Brooks previously declined several offers for Two-Way contracts from NBA team, in hopes of finding a standard deal.

In 41 games with the Houston Rockets, Brooks averaged 6.2 points per game. He was waived by Houston when the Rockets needed roster spots to complete deals at the trade deadline last month.

Before the Dallas Mavericks traded Kristaps Porzingis to the Washington Wizards for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans at the deadline, they attempted to send him to the Toronto Raptors in a deal for Goran Dragic and Gary Trent Jr.

While the Mavericks hoped Porzingis would be a second star to pair with Luka Doncic, it never played out that way on the floor. 

"They tried to trade him to Toronto," said Tim MacMahon on The Lowe Post. "My understanding is their discussions there were Dragic and Gary Trent. Toronto understandably said 'We're not giving up Gary Trent Jr.'

"So the Washington thing came together. And the Mavericks basically got to the point of 'Hey, financially it's a wash, but it's two smaller contracts that would be easier to move.' And they felt K.P. was kind of in the way and those two guys could fill roles off the bench, so they pulled the trigger as soon as they found a deal where they didn't have to give up a first round pick. A lot of that was the fit with K.P. wasn't there. It doesn't mean Porzingis necessarily did anything wrong. The Mavericks took a huge swing and a miss on him. It didn't work out.

"Ultimately, I do think there's a ceiling on a one-star team. You have to go all the way back, ironically, to the Dirk Mavericks to find a one-star NBA champion. But you know, if there's a guy who is going to do it, it's a dude like Luka."

Josh Giddey and Scottie Barnes have been named the NBA's Rookies of the Month for February.

Giddey averaged 16.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 7.7 assists in February.

Barnes averaged 15.2 points and 6.8 rebounds.
