Sloan, Jazz Discussing Contract Extension

Oct 31, 2009 6:14 PM

Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor says that the club is negotiating a contract extension with coach Jerry Sloan.

O'Connor is hopeful that an agreement will be reached.

"I'd like to think we can get something done at some point," O'Connor told the Deseret News this week. "But there's no urgency to it."

Sloan, who has signed one-year extensions heading into each of the last two seasons, is coaching the Jazz for the 22nd season.

Jazz GM Praises Boozer's Behavior

Oct 26, 2009 7:52 AM

Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor is happy with the way forward Carlos Boozer has handled himself so far this fall.

Boozer angled for a trade this offseason, but remains in Utah for the foreseeable future.

"He's been an absolute, total pro -- absolute, total pro," O'Connor told the Salt Lake Tribune. "He's done everything that coach has asked him to do. Just been an absolute, total professional."

O'Connor is glad that Boozer is back with the team and seemingly happy.

"He's made the All-Star team two of the last three years," the general manager said. "That's some of the things that you focus on. Not the negatives, the positives that he brings. He's a veteran that's in the prime of his basketball career and somebody that came back in shape.

"He's healthy and he's been an absolute, total professional, working on the things he has said himself he wants to work on to become more of a complete player. We're thrilled."

"Status quo," Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor told the Deseret News. "Again, my assumption is just wait and see where he's at ? and there comes a point in time when, probably, physically he will have to make a decision."

Brewer Hoping To Get Contract Extension

Oct 20, 2009 7:53 AM

Jazz guard Ronnie Brewer is hoping to get a contract extension from the team.

"That's not really in my hands right now," Brewer told the Deseret News of a possible contract extension.

The two sides would need to reach an agreement by the end of the month. Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor said earlier this week that he planned to talk with the player's agent.

"If it happens it happens," added Brewer. "I mean, I just feel like it's a great opportunity. I enjoy playing (in Utah). But my focus is on just getting better this year, and helping this team out."
