Dennis Lindsey Denies Bigotry Allegation By Elijah Millsap

Feb 25, 2021 2:50 PM

Dennis Lindsey on Wednesday denied allegations of making bigoted comments during an exit interview for former player Elijah Millsap in 2015.

Lindsey has worked in the Utah Jazz front office since

While issuing a series of posts Wednesday on Twitter about how bigotry "is still very well present" and is a problem that needs to be addressed, Millsap alleged that Lindsey "made bigot remarks in my exit interview while conversing with Q. Snyder 'if you say one more word, I'll cut your Black ass and send you back to Louisiana.'"

In a statement to the Deseret News about the allegation, Lindsey said: "I categorically deny making that statement."

"I can't fathom Dennis saying something like that," Quin Snyder told reporters after Wednesday's game.

Elijah Millsap is the younger brother of Paul Millsap.

Mike Conley: I Really, Really Thought This Was The All-Star Year

Feb 25, 2021 9:56 AM

Mike Conley spoke to the media for the first time since he was not voted in as an All-Star reserve despite a highly productive season and one of the best careers of any player not to receive a selection.

"Man, it was tough," said Conley. "I really, really thought this was the year. I joked with the guys on the team that I blame them. We should have started the year 31-0. Maybe that would have given me a chance, but I don’t know what else to do."

Conley is averaging 16.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game while the Utah Jazz have a 25-6 record.

Jazz Release Shaquille Harrison

Feb 24, 2021 3:37 PM

The Utah Jazz will release Shaquille Harrison.

Harrison signed a non-guaranteed deal with the Jazz in December shortly after training camp started for the team but was never able to establish himself in Quin Snyder's rotation.

The deal would have become fully guaranteed on Wednesday.

Harrison began his NBA career during the 2017-18 season with the Phoenix Suns and spent two seasons with the Chicago Bulls before signing with the Jazz.

Mike Conley Wants To Remain With Jazz Long-Term

Feb 23, 2021 3:28 PM

Mike Conley will be a free agent this summer but signs are pointing toward him re-signing with the Utah Jazz.

“Utah’s got me,” Conley said. “I was talking about this to my wife recently. We love it here. I don’t think I can go anywhere else that plays the way we play. We’ll see this offseason, because when that time comes there will definitely be a lot of chatter.

“But, from where I sit right now, this team is so unique, in the way we play. And everyone has bought into what we want to do on both ends of the floor.”

The Jazz traded for Conley before the 19-20 season, but he has found his stride in Year 2.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Says Jazz 'Look Like Us Last Year'

Feb 13, 2021 12:11 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo called the Utah Jazz "the best team in the West" and said they reminded him of the Milwaukee Bucks from last season following a 129-115 road loss.

"It looks simple. For sure, they look like us last year, and man, when you're at that point and you're playing with that confidence, you're hard to beat for sure," said Antetokounmpo of the Jazz.

The Jazz, who currently have the league's best record at 21-5, had four players score 25 points in a game for the first time in franchise history.

Donovan Mitchell said that his team has bigger goals on the season.

"We don't want to be the best team in February; we want to be the best team in July ... I think there's a lot more we can do to continue to get better, but it doesn't hurt to be in the moment and understand that what we're doing is pretty cool."

Mike Conley Out With Hamstring Injury, Jazz Recall Trent Forrest From G League

Feb 7, 2021 12:27 PM

Mike Conley will sit out Sunday's game due to a hamstring injury, though Quin Snyder did not know when Conley would return.

"Obviously he's out today, and we hope to have him back as soon as possible, but that's going to be dependent on the progress he makes," said Snyder on Sunday.

Conley suffered the injury on Friday night.

The Jazz recalled Trent Forrest from the G League for added depth due to Conley's absence.

Rudy Gobert: Talk With Donovan Mitchell Led To Realization 'We Could Move Forward'

Feb 3, 2021 5:07 PM

Back in March, there was some level of uncertainty over whether Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert could coexist with the Utah Jazz over the long-term. The issue was a pressing one for the Jazz as both players faced extension decisions during the 2020 offseason.

"We had a very honest conversation, and that’s all I needed," Gobert told Sam Amick of The Athletic. "You know, after that, once I knew that I told him everything that was on my mind and I heard everything that was on his mind, I knew that we could move forward. I’m not going to disclose all that, but I knew that once we (had that conversation) we could move forward."

Amick also asked Gobert how he and Mitchell were able to empathize with one another.

"I think it happened within ourselves first. But then with some articles coming out and some shit coming out about (the team), all that was before the bubble. And I decided to just tell everyone, ‘Let’s just talk on the phone.’ We can’t be having media and people putting out articles about some stuff, that are not helping us and helping the team. So we just had very honest phone conversations. And then after that, I really think we were able to move forward and to grow."
