Jazz Sign Marques Bolden, Malik Fitts

The Utah Jazz have signed forwards Marques Bolden and Malik Fitts. 

Bolden (6-10, 249, Duke) has played in seven games with the Cleveland Cavaliers over two seasons (2019-21) during his professional career. Prior to that, he spent three seasons at Duke, appearing in 88 games (24 starts), averaging 3.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 13.6 minutes per game. In his final season at Duke in 2018-19, he averaged 5.3 points, 4.5 boards and 1.7 blocks in 19.0 minutes per game.

Fitts (6-8, 230, St. Mary’s) played in three NBA games with the Los Angeles Clippers during the 2020-21 season and also appeared in 14 games (six starts) with the Agua Caliente Clippers of the NBA G League, averaging 11.1 points, 4.0 boards and 1.5 assists. Collegiately, Fitts spent two seasons at St. Mary’s (2018-20), where he averaged 15.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.3 steals in 68 career games (66 starts). At St. Mary’s, he earned 2019-20 All-WCC First Team and 2018-19 All-WCC Second Team honors. Fitts began his collegiate career playing one season at South Florida.

Justin James Signs Two-Way Contract With Jazz

The Utah Jazz have signed guard Justin James to a two-way contract. 

James (6-6, 190, Wyoming) owns career averages of 3.2 points on 44.6 percent from the field in 72 games with the Sacramento Kings. Last season, James averaged 3.9 points on 46.8 percent shooting. He was originally selected with the 40th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft by Sacramento.

The Port Saint Lucie, Fla., native was a four-year player at Wyoming, where as a senior in 2018-19, he averaged 22.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.5 steals in 38.2 minutes per game. He was named to the 2018-19 All-Mountain West Second Team, 2017-18 All-Mountain West First Team and 2016-17 All-Mountain West Third Team during his collegiate career.

The Utah Jazz have signed forward Derrick Alston Jr. 

Alston Jr. (6-9, 190, Boise State) appeared in 28 games (all starts) during his final collegiate season in 2020-21, owning averages of 17.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 32.5 minutes per contest, garnering 2020-21 All-Mountain West First Team honors. His 17.0 points per game ranked fourth in the Mountain West Conference last season.

Originally a walk-on to the Boise State basketball Team, Alston was a four-year player seeing action in 104 games (79 starts) with career averages of 14.2 points, 3.9 boards and 1.9 assists in 28.9 minutes per contest. The Houston native left the program ranked 10th in all-time points (1,479), ninth in threes made (190) and first in free throw percentage (82.1).
