April 2022 Utah Jazz Wiretap

Jordan Clarkson Least Likely Jazz Veteran To Be Traded

Oct 27, 2022 8:48 AM

The Utah Jazz have gotten off to a surprising 4-1 start. Despite the hot start, many still expect the Jazz to eventually trade most of the remaining veterans on their roster. However, one player might stick around in Utah for a while longer.

While talking about the Jazz and the potential of future trades, Zach Lowe of ESPN said he believes Jordan Clarkson likely isn't leaving Utah anytime soon.

“I’ve heard the same stuff that other people have reported that they are just super reluctant to move Clarkson," Lowe said. ”They’re really fond of him for whatever reason. So, I would peg him as the least likely of all these Jazz guys to get traded.”

Through five games, Clarkson is averaging a career-highs across the board of 18.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game. The eight-year veteran is also starting for the first time since his second season in the NBA.

Lakers, Jazz Expected To Discuss Russell Westbrook Trade Again

Oct 24, 2022 11:47 AM

The Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz are expected to return to the negotiation table later this season on a potential trade centered on Russell Westbrook.

Before the Jazz traded Bojan Bogdanovic to the Detroit Pistons, the Lakers offered Westbrook, a future first round pick, and second rounders for a package that included Bogdanovic and others.

The Jazz also have Mike Conley and Rudy Gay that could be included in a potential trade. Jordan Clarkson could also be a potential piece, though Utah is said to prefer to keep him.

Lakers Passed On Utah's Offer Of Bogdanovic, Conley, Gay, 2023 FRP For Westbrook, FRPs In 2027, 2029

Oct 19, 2022 2:52 PM

The Los Angeles Lakers had the opportunity this offseason to acquire Bojan Bogdanovic, Mike Conley, Rudy Gay and a 2023 first round pick from the Utah Jazz in exchange for Russell Westbrook and their first round picks in 2027 and 2029, according to Tony Jones of The Athletic.

Jones doesn't specify which 2023 first round pick the Jazz would have traded to the Lakers, but it presumably would have presumably been either the one from the Minnesota Timberwolves, or the least favorable selection from the Brooklyn Nets, Houston Rockets and Philadelphia 76ers.

The Jazz eventually traded Bogdanovic to the Detroit Pistons.

The Lakers also have had the opportunity to acquire Myles Turner and Buddy Hield for the pair of future first round picks attached to Westbrook.

Suns Interested In Trading For Jordan Clarkson

Oct 12, 2022 12:37 PM

The Phoenix Suns have expressed interest in acquiring Jordan Clarkson from the Utah Jazz, sources tell Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports. The Suns would use Jae Crowder to match salary in a possible deal for Clarkson.

The outcome of the trade would likely involve Crowder receiving a buyout from the Jazz and then picking his ultimate destination.

Clarkson is one of the options Phoenix has explored to add greater ball handling depth behind Chris Paul and Devin Booker.

Clarkson signed a four-year, $52 million extension with the Jazz in 2020. Clarkson has a player option for 23-24.

Finch, Connelly: Wolves Couldn't Afford Not To Trade For Rudy Gobert

Oct 12, 2022 10:10 AM

The Minnesota Timberwolves pulled off the most surprising transaction of the offseason when they traded four players and four first round picks to the Utah Jazz for Rudy Gobert.

Around the NBA, executives were shocked by the price Minnesota paid for Gobert.

"We put up the 30 best players in the league on a board," said Chris Finch.

"At any given time, like there's maybe three or four of them available. Some aren't even available if you gave 10 picks. And if you have one you can get and he fits and does a lot of the things that we like -- the more that we looked at it and the deeper we went, like just the more we felt like we couldn't not [trade for him]."

The Wolves believe Gobert will elevate their defense while also unlocking Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards and D'Angelo Russell.

"It's a very small list of elite players," said Minnesota president of basketball operations Tim Connelly.

"When you're able to add a difference-maker and not trade a guy in a similar tier, it's so rare ... we didn't think we'd get a call like this for a long, long, long time."
