Mitchell, Gobert After Collapse To Clippers: It's The Same Way As Last Year

Mar 30, 2022 10:14 AM

The Utah Jazz blew a 25-point lead against the Los Angeles Clippers in Tuesday's game, echoing back to a similar collapse in last year's playoffs against the same team.

“Just, again. Again and again,” Rudy Gobert said. “And the same way.”

“I don’t know, Sarah. I don’t know,” Mitchell said, rubbing his face with one hand and letting his other hit the table in exasperation. “It’s the same (expletive). I mean, it feels the same way. It’s the same thing. This is literally the same thing.”

Instead of Terance Mann scoring 39 points, it was Paul George scoring 34 in his first game since December.

Udoka Azubuike To Miss Remainder Of Season

Mar 26, 2022 5:26 PM

Utah Jazz center Udoka Azubuike will miss the remainder of the 2021-22 season following surgery on his right ankle and foot. Azubuike had surgery to repair multiple ankle and foot ligaments in his right foot to stabilize the subtalar joint.

The former 27th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft has appeared in just 32 games in two seasons. Azubuike rarely played behind Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors as a rookie last season. This year, the seven-footer appeared in 17 games behind Gobert and Hassan Whiteside.

Azubuike showed signs of improvement, as he started six games in his sophomore season. The 22-year-old center averaged 4.7 points and 4.2 rebounds in 11.5 minutes per game.

Quin Snyder Focused On Jazz, Declines To Talk Contract Status

Mar 23, 2022 5:42 PM

Quin Snyder responded to reports linking him to the head coaching positions with the Los Angeles Laker and San Antonio Spurs.

“To be honest, having to address this type of question in any form, in my view, is disrespectful to the teams that are mentioned themselves,” Snyder said. “I think specifically, these types of discussions are also disrespectful to coaches. And I love the guys that I coach. I love these players. And frankly, my focus is on our guys and our team. And as I said, addressing hypotheticals in these types of questions in any form I feel like is disrespectful. And that’s how I would characterize that.”

Snyder received a contract extension in 19-20, but it is unknown how many years he has left on his deal. Snyder, however, is not believed to be in the final season of his contract.

On Wednesday, Snyder declined to discuss his contractual status.

“I’ve never talked about my contract from day one, and I’m not going to,” he said. “That’s not something that I’m going to comment on now, nor at any point in the future. That’s not something that the Jazz have done. I personally don’t want to or believe in getting into public contract discussions.”

Joe Ingles Has 'Very Mixed Emotions' About Trade From Jazz

Mar 10, 2022 9:17 AM

Joe Ingles was with the Utah Jazz for eight years before a traded deadline deal sent him to the Portland Trail Blazers. The trade was primarily about Utah getting some on-court help, and luxury tax relief, in exchange for a player who was out for the season after a torn ACL.

Ingles understands all that, but it doesn't necessarily make things any easier.

“I never thought it would happen,” Ingles admitted. “Maybe that was very selfish of myself to think.”

Ingles has remained in Utah and fans regularly tell him they wish he was still with the Jazz. Ingles said he still hasn't been able to bring himself to watch a Jazz game.

"I still think I could have been an asset down there to help the guys. Knowing Quin (Snyder), knowing the guys, knowing what their goals are, I definitely could have still been important. I have mixed emotions about it,” Ingles said. “… Very mixed emotions. I still get very mad and frustrated with it. I live like 10 minutes up the road, so it’s annoying that I can’t go to the facility and do all that. It is what it is, I understand it. Do I necessarily agree with it? That can be up for debate.”
