Grizzlies Expected To Retain J.B. Bickerstaff As Head Coach

Apr 25, 2018 6:30 PM

The Memphis Grizzlies have been quiet on the coaching front as J.B. Bickerstaff is expected to get the job on a permanent basis. Memphis hasn't been linked to any other coaching candidates.

The Grizzlies elevated Bickerstaff to interim head coach after they fired David Fizdale in the early part of the season.

"I can't remember the last time somebody brought up the Grizzlies," said Stein during an appearance on the Dunc'd On Podcast. "Robert Pera, maybe he has a surprise in store. I can just tell you, basically everyone I talk to is operating under the assumption J.B. Bickerstaff is going to be brought back. Ultimately, we'll see until we get an announcement from the team that's the case it's official."

Grizzlies Intend To Use Midlevel Exception To Re-Sign Tyreke Evans

Apr 13, 2018 11:23 AM

The Memphis Grizzlies intend to use their mid-level exception to re-sign Tyreke Evans in the offseason.

Evans signed a one-year, $3.3 million deal with the Grizzlies in 2017 and outperformed that deal. The Grizzlies resisted offers at the deadline for Evans as they were seeking a first round pick.

The midlevel will be worth approximately $8.6 million.

Grizzlies Expect To Become Competitive Again Next Season

Apr 13, 2018 11:14 AM

Chris Wallace remains confident in the Memphis Grizzlies' capacity to become contenders again without embarking on a full rebuild.

“I understand the frustration of this past year,” Wallace said. “But, I’m not going to take sole credit for this, the front office teams I’ve presided over won the most ever games in the history of this franchise. We were seven straight years in the playoffs. We also brought in four of what I call the extended Mt. Rushmore or six most import players in of the franchise. One year out of the playoffs doesn’t necessarily mean we’re out of touch and no longer capable of doing the job.”

The Grizzlies missed Mike Conley and Chandler Parsons for most of the season.

“The plan on the short-term side of it is to get back in the swing of things,” Wallace said. “I don’t see any reason why we can’t be a very viable competitive team next year. … I’m excited about next year. I think we’ll be a pretty good team next year.”

Grizzlies Valued At Nearly $1.4 Billion With Buy-Sell Clause

Apr 10, 2018 10:45 AM

The Memphis Grizzlies are valued between $1.3 billion and $1.4 billion under the terms of a buy-sell clause. Robert Pera will retain control of the franchise.

The clause gave Steve Kaplan and Daniel Straus the option of buying the team out from Pera by naming a price for his shares.

Once triggered, the three groups negotiated for 60 days to try and strike a deal before Kaplan and Straus submitted binding bids.

Straus' bid was higher than Kaplan and Pera will match the bid and buy him out. It is unclear what will happen with Kaplan and his shares.

Robert Pera To Retain Controlling Interest Of Grizzlies

Apr 9, 2018 9:34 PM

Robert Pera will retain his interest in the Memphis Grizzlies as part of a buy-sell process.

Pera will continue to operate the team with controlling interest after making a "buy-sell" agreement with minority partners.

Steve Kaplan and Daniel Straus each exercised their "buy-sell" clause in which they could either buy out Pera of his interest, or be bought out themselves with the price set by them.

In his letter to season ticket holders, Pera said he is "committed to Memphis as an NBA market and as the home of the Grizzlies."

"We recognize that this has been a trying season for you as fans," Pera wrote. "That serves to reinforce our dedication to continue building a successful NBA franchise. We have made significant investment in our organization in recent years and considerable strides towards our goal of sustained success. We will continue to do so and are confident that you will see the results of those investments in coming seasons."
