Warriors Felt Omri Casspi's Attitude Was Suboptimal

Aug 31, 2018 10:25 AM

Omri Casspi had a strange season with the Golden State Warriors, struggling with injuries and his three-point shot.

Casspi was waived in April to create a roster spot for Quinn Cook.

"I don't know if (it) was a 'blowup' necessarily," wrote Ethan Strauss. "There was a lot of frustration on both sides, though. Generally speaking, he didn't perform like the Warriors expected and they felt his attitude was suboptimal."

Casspi signed a one-year deal with the Grizzlies in free agency.

Glen Grunwald has taken a consulting job with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Grunwald had been the director of athletics and recreation at McMaster University.

According to multiple sources, Grunwald has had at least preliminary discussions with Canada Basketball about its vacant executive-director position.

“I had to decide between the two, it was a tough call but I switched over,” said Grunwald, who will remain a resident of the Hamilton area with his wife and children.

“It’s just a consulting job when they need some advice. It’s nothing big. … It’s okay.”

Grizzlies Sign Multi-Year Jersey Sponsorship With FedEx

Aug 2, 2018 10:23 PM

The Memphis Grizzlies have signed a multi-year jersey sponsorship deal with FedEx.

FedEx is based in Memphis and also sponsors the team's venue.

The Grizzlies also revealed new uniforms, two new courts and a reimagined logo, icon and workmark system.

“If you look at Memphis on a map, the river lines one side and the city unfurls from that singular boundary – and in that asymmetry we find inspiration for all those indigenous off-center creative sparks that distinguish the people and City of Memphis,” said Jason Wexler, Grizzlies President of Business Operations. “The asymmetry, the reflection of Memphis as a 4-dimensional city with river, road, rail and runway, the inline of our new wordmark nodding to the neon of Beale Street – all draw from a city that cuts against the grain coalescing into a truly unique NBA identity. Further, we are extraordinarily excited to have FedEx – an organization that strives to connect the heart and soul of Memphis to the global community – join us in our reimagined brand identity as the Jersey Sponsor.”
