Arenas On Kobe: "My Numbers Are Blowing His Out Of The Water"

Dec 25, 2006 7:02 PM

Gilbert Arenas has been putting up a lot of points this season and feels that his numbers compare well to Kobe Bryant's.

"I'm glad what I'm doing is on national television so they can finally see what I did in the past; my 29 [points per game last season] is not a fluke. What I did in the playoffs is not a fluke. What I've done the last five years is not a fluke," Arenas said. "Everybody says, 'Oh, he's not better than this person, he's not better than that person.' But if you go year by year, number-wise, what's the difference between me and Kobe? He had Shaq. He got three rings. Other than that, my numbers are blowing his out of the water the first six years in the league.

Suns Get Into Snowball Fight Waiting To Get Out Of Denver

Dec 21, 2006 11:19 PM

It took a blizzard to finally stop the Phoenix Suns.

The Suns remained snowbound in a downtown Denver hotel Thursday, practicing at the nearby Pepsi Center and getting into a snowball fight to pass the time.

The Denver airport was closed Thursday and wasn't expected to reopen until about noon Friday. A chartered plane was being sent to Denver and the team planned to leave sometime in the afternoon.

The Suns will play the Wizards in Phoenix on Friday night. The game is a late start, 8:30 p.m. MST, which should allow the team to get home in plenty of time.

Anthony, J.R. Smith and Nene were all suspended earlier in the day for their roles in a brawl against the Knicks on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden.

Earl Boykins had a season-high 29 points and Marcus Camby grabbed 17 rebounds and scored a season-high 25 points.

Arenas Empathetic Of Iverson Situation

Dec 9, 2006 12:28 AM

Gilbert Arenas is empathetic of Allen Iverson's situation and hopes to avoid the same thing happening to him in Washington.

"It's hard in this league because when a team is built around you, it has to be built around you right," Arenas said before Friday's game. "That's why it's so important that I structure my next contract so that it will allow us to go out and get players if we need to. If you look at Allen and KG, they are making so much money, they really can't go out and get other star players. They're kind of stuck."

Ruffin's Time On Sidelines Extended

Dec 7, 2006 9:00 AM

The Wizards could be without Michael Ruffin for another week and perhaps longer, according to Coach Eddie Jordan. The veteran forward has been out since the Nov. 21 game at Dallas with a sprained right foot and was out for two weeks during the preseason with the same injury.

Ruffin's absence and Darius Songaila's back injury have left the Wizards thin at forward. "He's going to be out, period," Jordan said of Ruffin. "At least a few more days, and maybe longer."
