Nov 30, 2018 3:46 PM

The Sacramento Kings have interest in trading for Otto Porter Jr.

Porter signed a four-year, $106 million offer sheet with the Brooklyn Nets in 2017, which was matched by the Washington Wizards. The Kings also met with Porter in his restricted free agency.

The Kings have the expiring contracts of Iman Shumpert, Zach Randolph, Kosta Koufos, Ben McLemore, and approximately $16 million under the salary cap to make moves during the season/

John Wall's Trade Market Nearly Nonexistent

Nov 30, 2018 3:26 PM

The NBA has yet to determine how the trade bonus in the contract of John Wall would be applied if he's traded this season.

Sources say, however, that interest in trading for Wall is almost nonexistent at this point.

"There is a 99 percent chance that we would not trade for Wall, but I need to be prepared for that 1 percent," one team executive told ESPN.

Wall's trade bonus calls for him to be paid 15 percent of what is owed on is contract if he's traded. If Wall were traded now, the trade kicker could theoretically include his remaining $14.3 million this season and $123.6 million of his supermax set to begin in 19-20. For salary-cap purposes, $5.17 million would be added to each season of Wall's deal for the team acquiring him.

There's no precedent for Wall's situation and not something the NBA and NBPA saw coming during CBA talks.

"Granted, every player in this league can be traded, but the Wall extension right now is the toughest contract I have seen a team try to move in 20 years," one team executive told ESPN. "I couldn't look my owner in the eye and tell him there is value with the player even if we didn't have to trade anything of significance."

Dwight Howard Out 2-3 Months With Lumbar Microdiscectomy

Nov 30, 2018 2:50 PM

Dwight Howard underwent an L4-L5 lumbar microdiscectomy on Friday. The procedure went as planned with no complications.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Robert Watkins in Marina Del Rey, CA, and was recommended after consultation with Dr. Watkins and Wizards Director of Medical Services and Orthopedist Dr. Wiemi Douoguih determined that the disc herniation was causing severe nerve irritation and gluteal pain.

Howard’s progress will be re-evaluated in approximately two to three months.

Dwight Howard Could Undergo Surgery For Gluteal Injury

Nov 30, 2018 12:53 PM

Dwight Howard will likely need a procedure to provide relief from a gluteal injury that has frequently sidelined him this season.

Howard received the recommendation from a nerve specialist in Los Angeles. If Howard undergoes the surgery, he could miss a significant portion of the season.

Howard aggravated a piriformis muscle injury in a Nov. 18 game against Portland, and has missed 12 of the Wizards' 21 games this season.

Howard signed a two-year, $11 million free-agent deal with the Wizards during the offseason.

Wizards Used Team Meetings To Stop 'Embarrassing' Start To Season

Nov 27, 2018 12:58 PM

The Washington Wizards players talked formally following the leaks of their volatile practice.

“We’re done [with it],” Markieff Morris said. “Honestly, we don’t wanna take no backward steps. Just try to push past it. When you’re losing, there’s gonna be stuff like that, and you’ve gotta be the bigger man and push back.”

The Wizards spent 16 games of the season criticizing their own effort and then replicating the same issues only to criticize it again.

“We’ve been embarrassed,” Morris said.

“We’re playing harder. It’s really simple,” Scott Brooks said. “There’s no coach, there’s no players that can overcome not playing hard.”

“We talk about it all the time,” Bradley Beal said. “We talk about our problems, what we need to do. It’s evident to a guy who doesn’t know the game. So for us, it’s just doing it. Stop talking about it. Do it. Focus on trying to move forward and doing it together. And it’s been working.”

Bradley Beal Refutes Report Of Wanting Trade From Wizards

Nov 27, 2018 10:09 AM

Bradley Beal refuted a report that he would like a trade from the Washington Wizards.

"That's nonsense," Beal said. "I heard it earlier before the game and I was like if it ain't come from the horse's mouth, it wasn't me. I got this Washington jersey on, I come out and work everyday until otherwise. This is where I want to be."

The Wizards are widely reported to be open to a trade of either Beal or John Wall.

John Wall Has Very Few Teams Interested In Trading For Him

Nov 25, 2018 4:12 PM

Bradley Beal has considerably more trade value for the Washington Wizards than John Wall.

"I think the Bradley Beal situation we'll monitor," said Adrian Wojnarowski. "There's very few teams who wouldn't be interested in Bradley Beal. The contract. The player. The age. 25 years old. His skill set. Shooting threes. I know Washington has fielded a lot of calls since last week,

"John Wall is a very different situation," said Wojnarowski. "You can count on one hand, and probably with just a couple of fingers places that really might have interest in taking his contract on and what it all means to bring him in.

"I would never say there's no market for John Wall, but I think Bradley Beal has a much broader market. But if Washington was going to do something, they would have to get every last asset they could for Bradley Beal."
