BeeJay Anya Trims List To Sixteen

BeeJay Anya is considering 16 schools, including Final Four members Ohio State, Kansas, Louisville.

“I’m just trying to take it one step at a time right now,” Anya said.

The 6-foot-9, 270-pound Anya is also looking at Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Rutgers, Memphis, UCLA, Arizona, Indiana, Notre Dame, Seton Hall and DePaul.

He is considered a top-20 prospect in the class of 2013.

Oriakhi May Not Be Eligible To Transfer To SEC Program

Alex Oriakhi’s transfer options may be limited by the bylaws of various conferences throughout the country, such as the Southeastern Conference.

Oriakhi completed three years of eligibility at UConn. The SEC requires prospective transfers to have more than one year of eligibility remaining.

SEC schools Florida, Kentucky and Missouri had been mentioned as possible destinations.

North Carolina, Missouri and Duke are among the teams that have reached out to Oriakhi, who averaged a career-low 21.5 minutes and 4.8 rebounds per game as a junior.

He will not consider Duke, according to a source.

Hollis Thompson Enters Name Into Draft, Plans To Hire Agent

Hollis Thompson declared for the NBA draft Tuesday.

Thompson intends to hire an agent, according to Georgetown coach John Thompson III.

“Hollis returned for his junior year after submitting his name for the 2011 NBA draft,” Thompson said in a statement. “We fully anticipated he would enter the 2012 draft after this season. He is an extremely hard worker and we wish him the best as he takes his next step.”

Thompson, a 6-foot-8, 212-pound swingman, led the Big East in three-point shooting percentage, connecting on 43 percent of his attempts.

Dion Waiters will leave Syracuse, hire an agent and declare for the draft.

"I've decided to pursue my dream of becoming a professional basketball player by entering my name in the NBA Draft this spring,’’ Waiters said in a statement released by Syracuse University’s athletic communications department. “I plan on signing with an agent.’’

Waiters, a 6-foot-4 sophomore, averaged 12.7 points per game on 47.6 percent shooting this past season.

Syracuse sophomore guard Dion Waiters will enter the 2012 draft, according to a source.

“He is definitely not coming back,” the source said.

The 6-foot-4, 215 pound guard averaged 12.6 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 24.1 minutes per game.

He is projected as a mid-to-late first round pick.
