Players' Union Suspends Mayo's Former Agent

Agent Calvin Andrews was suspended for 12 months on Friday for alleged recruiting improprieties regarding former Southern California star O.J. Mayo, the Associated Press is reporting.

Mayo and Andrews, of Bill Duffy Associates, parted ways in May.

Final Four Generates $47 Million For Local Economy

The San Antonio metropolitan area reaped more than $47 million in economic benefits while hosting the NCAA men's Final Four and some related events this past March and April.

"Year after year, the continued success of the men's Final Four demonstrates it is one of America's great events," Greg Shaheen, NCAA senior vice president for basketball and business strategies, said Thursday. "The support from our corporate champions and corporate partners for the men's Final Four and all 88 NCAA championships is strong and growing."

Rod Strickland Promoted At University Of Memphis

Former Wizards' guard Rod Strickland has been promoted to director of basketball operations at the University of Memphis, the Associated Press is reporting.

Strickland, who had been director of student athlete development, succeeds Tyrone Weeks, now an assistant coach at Marist.

SEC Signs $2 Billion Deal With ESPN

The Southeastern Conference has signed a 15-year deal with ESPN reportedly worth more than $2 billion to televise football and men's and women's basketball on their various stations.

The agreement announced Monday is the longest ESPN has ever signed.

"This agreement makes the SEC the most widely distributed conference in the country," said SEC Commissioner Mike Slive.

"The bottom line here is that fans of SEC football will have more access to games and better distribution than they ever have in the past," Slive added.

Coach K: Mills Will Be An NBA Guard

Australia's Patrick Mills, who will be a sophomore at St. Mary's, had an impressive 20 points against the United States and 22 against Argentina in the Olympics.

"I'm glad my Duke team doesn't play St. Mary's," said US coach Mike Krzyzewski. "He is a great guard, and he will be an NBA guard."

"I played against the best [in the Olympics] and I take a lot from it and learned a lot," said Mills. "I'm much better."

Crean Finally Signs Deal With Hoosiers

More than four months after accepting the head coaching job at Indiana University, Tom Crean signed a 10-year deal worth at least $23.6 million.

School officials made the announcement Tuesday, the same day the university released details of the contract through a public records request.

"I left a very special situation at Marquette when Indiana offered me this opportunity," Crean said in a statement released by the athletic department. "I wanted to make sure that if I left, I would be going to a place that would be a destination for my family and allow me to build a program for the long haul with the same security."

Self Commits To KU

Coach Bill Self, who guided the Kansas Jayhawks to the NCAA championship last season, is committed to staying at the university well into the next decade.

Self signed a 10-year deal extension that will keep him under contract at Kansas through 2018 and provide an annual compensation package of $2.2M, according to a Yahoo.com report on Wednesday.
