Emoni Bates Commits To Memphis

Aug 25, 2021 9:18 PM

Emoni Bates has committed to the University of Memphis as part of the incoming class of 2021.

Bates originally committed to Michigan State last summer before reopening his recruitment in April.

Bates had been ranked as the No. 1 player in the 2022 class since he first emerged on the recruiting scene early in his high school career, but he had an inconsistent junior season at Ypsi Prep (Michigan).

Bates and Jalen Duren are two of the four ESPN 100 prospects to commit to Memphis in the 2021 class.

Bates doesn't turn 18 until January, so he is too young to enter the 2022 NBA draft.

No. 6 Prospect Shaedon Sharpe Narrows List To Four Colleges, Plus G League Ignire

Aug 9, 2021 3:41 PM

Shaedon Sharpe, the No. 6 prospect in the ESPN class of 2022, says he has narrowed his list of options to five: the G League Ignite, Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky and Oklahoma State.

Almost a complete unknown a year ago, either unranked or on the fringes of the top 100 of most recruiting services, the Canadian-born Sharpe averaged 22.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 28 minutes over 12 games at the EYBL.

Sharpe says he will return to Dream City Christian in Glendale, Arizona, for his senior year of high school next week.

No. 2 Recruit Keyonte George Commits To Baylor

Aug 9, 2021 3:39 PM

Keyonte George has announced his commitment to Baylor.

George, who cut his list back in May, chose the Bears over Texas, Oklahoma State, Kansas and Kentucky. He took official visits to four of his final five schools, with Kentucky the exception.

Texas had been the favorite for most of the spring, but a commitment from Arterio Morris in mid-July seemed to shift the chase to Baylor.

George is ranked No. 4 in the ESPN 100 for 2022 -- but will move up to No. 2 with the top two prospects, Emoni Bates and Jalen Duren, reclassifying into 2021.

Emoni Bates Reclassifies For 2021 Incoming College Class

Aug 4, 2021 9:05 PM

Emoni Bates is reclassifying for the 2021 incoming class and could enroll in college for the upcoming season.

Bates announced on Instagram he's down to four options: Michigan State, where he decommitted from in the spring, Oregon, Memphis and the G League.

Bates doesn't turn 18 until January, so he is too young to enter the 2022 NBA draft.

Bates could end up playing college basketball for two years, or go to college for one year and then play in the G League or elsewhere for a year before entering the 2023 draft.
