NBA Wants Agents To Share Medicals To All 30 Teams As Part Of One-And-Done Return

Sep 20, 2022 11:00 AM

The NBA and NBPA have long been expected to revert back to its previous rules allowing high school players to enter the draft, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN has tried to walk back earlier reports indicating an agreement will be reached.

The NBA is attempting to bargain for player agents to be forced to provide medical information and physicals to all 30 teams as part of the draft process. Currently, agents can exert control over who they share that information with in an attempt to direct their clients away from teams they would prefer to avoid.

Those conversations between the NBA and NBPA have yet to begin and will be part of their larger CBA negations.

Also, if the one-and-done rule is changed, the expected starting date will likely be several years into the future. The first year where high school players are allowed to enter the NBA directly will essentially create a double draft.

Emoni Bates Arrested After Gun Found In Borrowed Car

Sep 19, 2022 1:18 PM

Emoni Bates was arrested over the weekend after a fire ham was discovered in a vehicle he was driving.

Bates will be charged with carrying a concealed weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned at 1 p.m. ET, per Jackson.

Steve Haney, lawyer for Bates, told ESPN that the arrest last night came after a routine traffic stop when he was driving a borrowed car that had a gun in it. "Reserve judgment on this," Haney said in a statement. "There's way more to the story. He borrowed someone's car, was pulled over and a gun was located in the car."

Bates was once the No. 1 recruit in the 2022 class until he reclassified last summer and ended up at No. 3 in 2021.

Bates originally committed to Michigan State in the summer of 2020 and then reopened his recruitment in April 2021, before reclassifying from 2022 to 2021 and committing to Memphis.

Bates transfered to Eastern Michigan this year.
