May 26, 2021 1:18 AM

Six national high school powerhouses are set to form a national league starting in the 2021-22 season.

The National Interscholastic Basketball Conference will feature Oak Hill, Montverde, IMG Academy, La Lumiere School, Sunrise Christian Academy and Wasatch Academy, with two other schools to be announced.

The eight teams will play a 10-game regular season, complete with a playoff schedule.

The league could expand in the upcoming year.

"The NIBC is a great thing for the players and schools involved," said Oak Hill coach Steve Smith. "The best players compete against the best players, teams play the best teams nationally, and I love coaching against the best coaches in the nation. It's a win-win for every school in the NIBC."

Matt Bewley and Ryan Bewley have become the first prep underclassmen to sign contracts with the Overtime Elite professional league.

Matt Bewley is ranked No. 3 by ESPN for the Class of 2023 while Ryan Bewley is ranked No. 12.

OTE is a well-funded start-up for high school players who want to use the league as an alternative training program to traditional high school and college basketball before entering the NBA draft.

OTE has hired Kevin Ollie, a 13-year NBA veteran and national-championship-winning coach at UConn, to run the team.

The Bewley twins are expected to be eligible for the 2024 NBA draft.
