Lakers coach Phil Jackson has spent one more season with the team than he did with the Bulls, but he still wants to represent both clubs when he enters the Hall of Fame.

Harris Has Been Playing Through Injury

Jan 31, 2010 5:15 PM

Nets point guard Devin Harris has missed the team's last three games with a right wrist injury.

Harris has been out since falling in a game against the Warriors last week, but New Jersey coach/general manager Kiki Vandeweghe said that the point guard has been hurting for a long time.

"He played for a month (with the injury) and (for) three weeks he didn't say anything," Vandeweghe said. "We all knew it was sore. He just wanted to play."

Harris has missed 14 games overall this season for the struggling Nets.

Despite the fact that Harris played through the injury, he and Vandeweghe denied reports that he's more hurt than the team is letting on.

Will Bynum Frustrated By Ankle Injury

Jan 31, 2010 5:11 PM

Pistons guard Will Bynum has missed the team's last 15 games with a sprained left ankle.

Bynum took part in practice drills on Saturday, but he is still expected to miss Sunday's game against the Magic.

"It's frustrating in general. It's frustrating because it's my contract year. It's frustrating because we're losing. It's frustrating watching the games. It's frustrating challenging myself to stay inside of what we're doing as a team to keep myself going," Bynum said. "It's all that in one, and it's frustrating because it's new to me.

"But I'm constantly working at it and constantly trying to stay positive and just try to push through it."

He signed a two-year deal with Detroit before the 2008-09 season.

"It's tough, especially with so much negativity around as far as us losing games and negativity is the first thing that creeps up in your mind when you're down or losing something," Bynum said. "This is the time that builds character, which builds who you are, and I feel like going through these times do nothing but make you tougher."

Kidd: Mavs Need To Make Sure Howard Is Focused

Jan 31, 2010 5:08 PM

Mavericks forward Josh Howard is enduring his worst professional season and his expiring contract could prove to be a valuable trade chip.

Howard will earn $10.9 million this season.

He has missed 21 games and his scoring average, 12.2 points, is the lowest since his rookie season.

"You have your teammates that are counting on you to do your job," Jason Kidd said of dealing with trade rumors.

"The big thing for us veteran guys who have been through it is to make sure that he's on board and that he's focused on doing his job."

Mike James Wants To Play For Knicks

Jan 31, 2010 10:35 AM

Wizards guard Mike James told the New York Post on Saturday that he wants to play for the Knicks.

James is hoping that Washington can find a new home for him prior to the Feb. 18 trade deadline and his expiring contract is appealing to New York.

He has appeared in just three games this season, even with Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton suspended for the rest of the year.

"This isn't how I envisioned it," James said. "I want to get out of here. The coach [Flip Sanders] never had me in his plans. I could see [sitting me] if we're winning, but you can't tell me I can't help now."

James played high school basketball at Amityville in New York.

Mavericks Not Looking For 'Big Deal'

Jan 31, 2010 10:32 AM

The Mavericks aren't looking to swing any major deals prior to the Feb. 18 trade deadline.

"I don't see any bargains happening out there, so I'm not looking for any big deals," owner Mark Cuban told the Dallas Morning News.

However, Cuban did admit that the trade exception acquired from the Nets along with Eduardo Najera on Jan. 11 does give the Mavericks some options.

"Now that we have that trade exception, if somebody else has a big deal go down, we can demand a talented young player to pop in there," Cuban said. "That might be our best opportunity.

"We'll see. I think everybody waits for the perfect deal until the last second."

Hughes: Arenas Will Be Back With Wizards

Jan 31, 2010 10:28 AM

Knicks guard Larry Hughes, a former teammate of Gilbert Arenas, believes that the suspended star will be back with the Wizards.

Arenas has been suspended for the remainder of the season by the NBA in the aftermath of a felony gun charge.

"Honestly I do," Hughes said Saturday. "This is a special place. When you've played here and the city gets behind you, you realize what the fans want, what the city wants. I think he'll come to realize that. I can see it."

There has been speculation that Arenas and the Wizards will agree to a buyout on the remainder of his six-year, $111 million contract or trade him.

"You get in trouble, you're mad at the authority but I think it will blow over," Hughes continued. "I can see him back here. Fans love him here. I haven't been in the city to know what's been said about him. But the time I was here and even when I came back with Cleveland, they love him. Obviously, he'll have to get out and speak about what's going on, but I don't think they'll hold a grudge against him."
