Feb 1, 2014 12:43 PM

The Indiana Pacers have signed Andrew Bynum.

The two sides discussed a deal and met on Friday.

The Cavaliers suspended Bynum for conduct detrimental to the team prior to trading him.

Brian Windhorst of ESPN reports that the deal is worth $1 million for the remainder of the season.

Nate Robinson Undergoes Surgery For Torn ACL

Jan 31, 2014 9:56 PM

Nate Robinson underwent surgery for a torn ACL in his left knee on Friday.

Robinson will miss the remainder of the season.

“It’s always tough to see one of your players go down with an injury,” Tim Connelly said. “Nate is known for his heart and determination, so I have no doubt he will work hard to get back on the court as soon as possible. He has the full support of our team and organization.”

Source: Lakers, Wizards, Bobcats Interested In Taj Gibson

Jan 31, 2014 4:34 PM

The Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards and Charlotte Bobcats have each engaged in preliminary trade talks with the Chicago Bulls regarding Taj Gibson, according to a source.

The Bulls reportedly did not like the possible return from any of the teams.

The Bulls could be determined to move salary to create room and pair Derrick Rose with a second superstar.

“The way that works is this, when something gets close or they think there’s something there that makes sense they’ll come to me,’’ Tom Thibodeau said. “Every conversation that they’re having I don’t know about nor do I want to know about. I think it’s important for me to be focused on the guys we do have.

Bulls Not Ruling Out Derrick Rose Joining Practice Later In Season

Jan 31, 2014 3:45 PM

Tom Thibodeau is not ruling out the possibility of Derrick Rose joining the Chicago Bulls in practices later this season.

“I don’t want to jump to any conclusions, just going step-by-step,’’ Thibodeau said, when asked if Rose’s return to the practice court was a reality. “When he handles the next phase then they’ll move him onto the next one. Just make sure he’s completely healthy, that’s all we’re thinking about.’’

When asked which rehab phase Rose is in, Thibodeau said: “He can shoot, he’s doing some jogging on a treadmill, he’s coming along. Still got to be patient, go step-by-step, nothing close to practicing.’’

Rose suffered a meniscus tear in his right knee in November and the Bulls released he would be out for the rest of the season.

Rajon Rondo Intrigued By 'College Recruitment' Type Process In Free Agency

Jan 31, 2014 3:34 PM

Rajon Rondo responded to speculation he intends to test free agency when his contract with the Boston Celtics is up in 2015, saying, "I may want to go through it."

Rondo added he is intrigued by the wooing process that happens for free agents.

"It’s kind of like college recruiting," Rondo said on Friday. "I’m pretty sure a lot more goes into it in the NBA. A lot more money is spent. I’ve heard stories, guys getting called right at midnight. It’s something that I haven’t experienced. I may want to go through it. I haven’t thought about it at all."

Rondo's contract, a five-year extension worth $55 million that he signed in the fall of 2009, is up after next season. The Celtics have discussed a potential contract extension with Rondo.

Rondo is adamant he has not thought about free agency.

"I haven’t thought about it," Rondo said. "I’ve just thought about getting my leg as strong as possible, continue to shake off the rust this year and come back even better next."

34 Percent Of Lottery Picks Between 2004-2008 Already Out Of NBA

Feb 24, 2014 4:50 PM

Few assets in the NBA are as valued as lottery picks as general managers go to great lengths to put pick protection on traded first rounders.

But there is evidence that they are not quite as valuable as perceived internally.

Of the 70 lottery picks between the 2004 NBA Draft and 2008 NBA Draft, 24 are already out of the NBA, representing 34 percent. This five-year sample covers Dwight Howard's draft class to the one headlined by Derrick Rose.

Kyrie Irving 'Pretty Sure' He'll Remain With Cavaliers Long-Term

Jan 31, 2014 12:09 AM

Kyrie Irving told the media that he enjoys being a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers hours after a report surfaced that he has privately told people he is unhappy.

"There’s been so much so-called reports coming out that I don’t want to be here. That’s what you guys get paid to do, but that’s just so much negative attention," Irving said after the Cavaliers' loss at the New York Knicks. "I know we’re struggling, but it’s not about me. It’s about our team. It’s about us fighting every day for each other and me fighting for my teammates.

"Yes, I’m in Cleveland. I enjoy myself. I enjoy going out and competing at the highest level for the Cleveland Cavaliers. That’s what it’s about. It’s not about me and it’s not about this controversy, ‘Do I privately want out when my contract is up?’ I’m still in my rookie contract and I’m happy to be here. And I’m pretty sure I’m going to be here for a long time. I’m not saying anything to tell the future, but I’m pretty sure the relationship I have with Dan Gilbert and management extends off the court. I enjoy being here."

Irving said he's aware he can sign a long-term extension with the Cavaliers in the offseason.

"It’s still too early to say. I’m still trying to get through this season," he said. "Everybody is trying to antagonize this team and put it on me. I’m here for my teammates, I’m here for Coach Brown and the coaching staff and I’m going to play my heart out every single night for the Cleveland Cavaliers."

Kemba Walker Close To Return From Sprained Ankle

Jan 31, 2014 7:04 PM

Kemba Walker practiced on Thursday for the first time since suffering a second degree sprain in his left ankle on Jan. 18.

Walker believes he is nearing a return to the Charlotte Bobcats and might come back on Friday against the Los Angeles Lakers.

“I’m definitely close,” Walker said. “I’ve been working extensively on my ankle to get back. I’m just ready to play, tired of sitting on sidelines.

“I don’t want to rush anything but I’ll definitely get back out there.”

The Bobcats have gone 3-2 in the absence of Walker, who is averaging 18.7 points this season. Walker sprinted and tested his ankle on Thursday.
