Mark Cuban agreed with the data behind load management, though added that teams need to be savvier of when they rest players.
"The problem isn't load management ... I think teams have to be smarter about when to load manage. I'm all for load management. Worse than missing a player in a [regular-season] game is missing him in the playoffs," said Cuban.
The issue of load management arose again with Kawhi Leonard recently sitting out a nationally-televised Clippers game.
The Mavs also rested Kristaps Porzingis last weekend.
Cuban added that load management is a byproduct of increased investments in biometrics.
"It's all data-driven ... We spend so much money, not just on analytics for predictive reasons, but also for biometrics so we know how smart we can be. The dumb thing would be to ignore the science."
The Orlando Magic expressed interested in trading for DeMar DeRozan, league sources told Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer.
The Magic are "scouring the trade market for scoring help," added O'Connor.
DeRozan has a player option for next season, though The Athletic reported that DeRozan and the Spurs remain far apart on negotiating a contract extension.
The question of load management has been of the major storylines to start the NBA season. The Los Angeles Clippers have rested Kawhi Leonard in back-to-back games on national television on multiple occasions.
Jeff Zucker, who is chairman of WarnerMedia News & Sports and oversees Turner Sports, was asked about the weak ratings of the NBA to begin the 19-20 season.
“I think the combination of injuries and sitting out has been an issue, and I think that’s a concern, and hopefully that will get addressed over time," said Zucker. "I think the league has some influence over teams and I would like them to exert that influence."
The NBA has national television deals with Turner Sports and ESPN worth $2.66 billion per year through 24-25. The current deal was finalized approximately two years before the expiration of the prior contract.
Adam Silver has defended the practice of load management and the NBA has also considered shortening the season.
Kevin Huerter sustained a left shoulder injury during the third quarter of Tuesday night’s game at Denver. He underwent an X-ray at the arena last night, which was negative.
Huerter underwent an MRI on Wednesday. Huerter will return to Atlanta, where team physicians will assess the results of the MRI.
Huerter is listed as out for Thursday's game at Phoenix, and his status will be updated as appropriate.
Khyri Thomas underwent a successful surgical procedure on the fifth metatarsal of his right foot. The rehabilitation process will begin immediately.
Thomas will be re-evaluated for a status update in six weeks.
Thomas has missed the last two games with a right foot stress reaction.
The Detroit Pistons selected Thomas 38th overall in the 2018 NBA Draft out of Creighton.
Eric Gordon will miss approximately six weeks after undergoing right knee arthroscopy.
The procedure was performed by Dr. Walter Lowe of Memorial Hermann.
Gordon had a difficult start to the 19-20 season after signing a four-year, $76 million extension with the Houston Rockets.
Caris LeVert will miss several weeks with ligament damage in his thumb.
LeVert is visiting specialists for further evaluation.
LeVert signed a three-year, $52.5 million extension with the Brooklyn Nets in August.
Last November 12th, LeVert suffered a significant right foot injury.
Iman Shumpert has agreed to sign with the Brooklyn Nets.
Brooklyn has a 16th roster spot available until Wilson Chandler returns from his suspension in mid-December.
Shumpert finished last season with the Houston Rockets.
Chris Paul denied asking for a trade from the Houston Rockets after the 18-19 season amid reported tension with James Harden. The Rockets eventually traded Paul to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Russell Westbrook.
"Do you feel like there’s been times where, 'Damn, that’s a little eye-opening. I got stabbed in the back,'" asked Kevin Hart.
"Absolutely," said Paul. "This last situation was one of them. The GM there in Houston, he don’t owe me nothing. You know what I mean? He may tell me one thing but do another thing. But you just understand that that’s what it is."
Paul orchestrated a trade from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Rockets in 2017.
