Cavs Haven't Ruled Out Signing Kendrick Perkins

Mar 30, 2018 5:41 PM

The 10-day contract of Okaro White has expired and he did not play for the Cleveland Cavaliers while under contract. Cleveland now has two open roster spots.

White has been working himself back into game shape after suffering a broken foot.

The Cavaliers aren't required to sign another player for another 10 days but a source says another player will likely be signed sooner.

Kendrick Perkins remains on the Cavaliers' radar and could be signed. Perkins expected to be signed by the Cavaliers after the trade deadline.

The Cavaliers could also re-sign White or convert the two-way contract of John Holland into an NBA contract.

Knicks Will Have Early Bird Rights On Trey Burke In 2019

Mar 29, 2018 10:34 AM

The New York Knicks will have Early Bird Rights on Trey Burke in 2019, which will allow them to go over the cap to re-sign him to a deal worth 105 percent greater than the average salary of 18-19 for up to four seasons.

The average salary for 16-17 was $7.8 million.

The Knicks will have Burke on a cap hold of just $1.6 million during the 2019 offseason, which will be significant for them as they're expected to be active in free agency.

Burke has played well for the Knicks since being brought up from the G League.

Zach LaVine Not Stressed About Free Agency

Mar 29, 2018 12:06 PM

The Chicago Bulls have been confident they will re-sign Zach LaVine in restricted free agency.

LaVine was asked if he believes he's worth a max contract.

“There are things you work for,” LaVine said. “Max players are top of the line. There are a lot of dudes in the NBA who haven’t been top of the line because of money situations or the cap is bigger or a weird offseason.

“You are what you’re worth. Obviously, you can’t say no to getting one. I see myself being an elite player in this league. I’m going to work for that every day until I get there.”

LaVine is represented by Bill Duffy.

“There’s a lot that goes into it,” LaVine said. “The agency and front office, they’re both trying to get the better of each (other), but I think this situation is a little bit different because there’s mutual respect on both sides and understanding. There’s no bad blood between us, so I think everything will go smoothly.

“I’m not stressed at all. Whatever the number is or terms they’re going to come to, it will happen. That’s why I have great agents. And we have respect, communication and understanding with the front office (so) we’ll let that work itself out.

“I can’t let it get to me. It’s not going to. I have to prepare myself for next year and be ready to take on a bigger role and help the team get better.”
