Jabari Parker Wishes He Could Have Stayed With Bucks

Nov 27, 2019 4:21 PM

Jabari Parker was the second overall pick by the Milwaukee Bucks in 2014, but he left the franchise during the 2018 offseason. Parker returned to Milwaukee as a member of the Atlanta Hawks after finding a niche in the NBA.

Parker is impressed with what the Bucks have built with Fiserv Forum.

"It's real special, man, how they were able to build this building," Parker told ESPN. "I haven't played here but just seeing like the growth of the city, I really like the way that it's developing.

"It's just so sad that I'm not able to share it with them and that they moved on, but that's fine, that's business. But I do have like a little homesickness from being here. I just miss being here."

Parker has a player option for 20-21 with the Hawks. Parker wouldn't rule out a return to the Bucks in the future.

"Never. I would never rule out a possible return here," Parker told ESPN. "I would never do that. It's just so sad how it ended and I wish I could've stayed."

Parker said his joy for the game is "almost there" again.

"It's growing continually, but in order to get that 100 percent joy and passion it comes with winning," said Parker. "I just want to be a winner."

Carmelo Anthony Insists 'This Ain't A Damn Farewell Tour', Wants To Play Next Season

Nov 26, 2019 12:56 PM

Carmelo Anthony returned to the NBA on a non-guaranteed one-year, $2.15 million deal with the Portland Trail Blazers for his 17th season.

Anthony told Shams Charania of The Athletic that he wants to play beyond the current season.

“This ain’t a damn farewell tour,” Anthony said. “My love for the game don’t stop. I don’t know where this ‘farewell tour’ thing came from. I’ve never talked about a farewell tour. I know what I can do and I believe in myself. When a farewell tour comes, it comes. That’s not something I think about. I’m not thinking about retiring right now. I had during this past stretch over the summer.

“But ain’t no retiring in my mind. I believe in what I have left.”

During his sabbatical, Anthony talked to his star friends LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, but neither the Los Angeles Lakers or Miami Heat ever came close to signing him. Anthony also never asked.

“As far as friendships, I would never put business along with friendships,” Anthony said. “I would never do that. I would never reach out to a friend and say, ‘I need this. Can you do this for me?’ when it pertains to a situation that may not be in their control. It was frustrating being in my position, but I just decided: control what you can control.

“I got close friends on a lot of teams that I would never reach out to for a favor. It’s just not who I am.”

Richard Jefferson Claims He Chose Retirement Over Knicks' Offer In 2018

Nov 25, 2019 9:25 PM

Richard Jefferson claims the New York Knicks were the one team to offer him a contract during the 2018 offseason. Jefferson instead chose to retire.

“They were the one team that offered me a job, and I decided to retire,” Jefferson said on-air during the Nets-Knicks game. ” I just knew it was time. When the Knicks were looking for me to play for them, I knew my time in the league was over.”

Jefferson won a title in 2017 with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Jefferson was drafted by Nets in 2001.

Hornets Identify Andre Drummond As Long-Term Target

Nov 22, 2019 3:08 PM

The Charlotte Hornets have had interest in Andre Drummond for at least a year.

Drummond has a $28.7 million player option for next season that he's expected to decline to become a free agent. The 2020 NBA free agency class is expected to be a weak one, which would make Drummond one of the more coveted players.

Tom Gores is high on Drummond and would like to retain him. The Pistons haven't had trade discussions involving Drummond so far this season.

The Hornets will have max cap space in 2020.

“He’ll be a priority there,” one league executive told Heavy.com of the Hornets. “It’s just a matter of whether they make him a priority now and give up something to get him or try to make the move later. It’s a very cautious group, Mitch Kupchak and those guys. But they might want to get this guy into the fold sooner rather than later, there’s just a lot of incentive there on both sides.”

Jazz Sign Juwan Morgan, Waive Stanton Kidd

Nov 21, 2019 8:41 PM

The Utah Jazz have signed forward Juwan Morgan.

In a related move, the team has waived forward Stanton Kidd.

Morgan (6-8, 232, Indiana) most recently appeared in five games with the Salt Lake City Stars, Utah’s G League affiliate, averaging 15.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.6 blocks in 26.1 minutes. The only player to start all five games for the Stars this season, Morgan shot a team-high 71.8 percent from the field (seventh in the league) and tallied two double-doubles. The signing marks the second G League call-up to the NBA this season.

Kidd (6-6, 216, Colorado State) appeared in three games for the Jazz this season averaging 0.8 rebounds and 0.3 assists in 3.8 minutes.

Blazers Had Protection In Pau Gasol's Contract Against Left Foot/Ankle Injury

Nov 21, 2019 12:35 PM

The Portland Trail Blazers signed Pau Gasol to a guaranteed one-year deal, except the deal would no longer be guaranteed if he missed 15 straight games due to a problem with his left foot or ankle.

The Blazers were free to waive Gasol after Monday's game as he wasn't healthy yet.

The Blazers now have his $1.62 million not count against their cap, which also helps their luxury tax bill. Gasol’s cap hit this season will now be  $463,684.

76ers Never Offered Jimmy Butler Full Five-Year Max Contract

Nov 21, 2019 12:15 PM

The Philadelphia 76ers did not offer Jimmy Butler a five-year maximum contract offer on June 30th, according to multiple sources.

The 76ers possibly pivoted in another direction when they learned of Al Horford's interest.

There was perhaps concern about tension between Butler and other players on the team as well as the coaching staff. Like other teams, the 76ers likely wondered how Butler would age.

Butler ultimately orchestrated a sign-and-trade to the Miami Heat.

Andrew Bogut Open To NBA Return In Right Situation

Nov 19, 2019 10:11 PM

Andrew Bogut is open to returning to the NBA later this season.

Last season, Bogut played in Australia and then joined the Golden State Warriors for the end of the regular season and playoffs.

"The NBA? Yeah, possibly," Bogut told RSN radio on Tuesday.

"I doubt the Warriors will come calling because I think they're going to go, obviously, full rebuild mode," said Bogut. "But I think it's definitely feasible if it's the right situation, but I won't go back just for the sake of going back.

"An opportunity to try and win a championship will be the main thing in the NBA. I wouldn't go back to the NBA just to play in the NBA, it's more that [trying to win a title] and somewhere that I'm kind of familiar with and somewhere where I feel comfortable for the family as well would be the other priority."

Bogut would also like to win a championship in Australia.

"I'd really like to have an NBL trophy, I think that's kind of what's driving me to get out there and be competitive and the team's faring well so we have a good chance to do that," he said.

Jamal Crawford Still Believes He'll Eventually Sign With NBA Team

Nov 19, 2019 9:37 PM

Jamal Crawford still wants to play in the NBA despite being 40 years old.

Crawford scored 51 points on 30 shots in the final game of the 18-19 season, which may end up being his last ever NBA game.

“I know that it was historic in a bunch of ways,” Crawford said. “But I honestly thought more so along the lines of: ‘I’m re-energized. I’m ready for the next chapter.’”

Crawford is trying to keep things in perspective as veterans such as Corey Brewer, Joakim Noah and J.R. Smith also remain unsigned.

“I honestly don’t think it’s anything personal,” Crawford said of the fact that he remains unsigned. “Obviously I can still play.”

Crawford is encouraged by Carmelo Anthony signing with the Blazers and he believes he will also eventually sign with a team.

“In my heart of hearts, I feel like it’ll happen,” Crawford said. “I just don’t know when.”
