Nikola Mirotic Prefers To Remain With Bulls

Oct 26, 2017 11:13 AM

Nikola Mirotic would prefer to remain with the Chicago Bulls, but there's a growing sense that he would find it difficult to remain teammates with Bobby Portis.

Mirotic suffered multiple fractures and a concussion following a practice scuffle with Portis before the start of the season.

Mirotic is expected to miss four to six weeks while Portis is on an eight-game suspension.

Mirotic can veto any trade following the two-year deal he signed with the Bulls in restricted free agency.

Kyrie Irving Had Interest In Knicks Since They're 'Close To Home'

Oct 26, 2017 9:56 AM

Kyrie Irving reiterated he had genuine interest in being traded to the New York Knicks despite their current status as a rebuilding franchise.

Irving also had interest in the Minnesota Timberwolves, San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat and ultimately was traded to the Boston Celtics.

“It’s pretty easy, man,” Irving said. “They were on the list for a reason. They were close to home. That’s about it.”

“Any time a great player in this league has you on their list, you got to be happy about it,” Jeff Hornacek said.

“I saw (Irving was interested in joining the Knicks) on Twitter,” Kristaps Porzingis said. “I wasn’t even paying too much attention to my own trade talks — and even less to other guys.”

DeMarcus Cousins Regrets Being Loyal To Kings, Not Leaving In 2015

Oct 25, 2017 2:43 PM

DeMarcus Cousins regrets not pushing for a trade from the Sacramento Kings in 2015 while feuding with George Karl.

Cousins wanted to remain with the Kings at that time, but he was traded less than two years later ahead of the 2017 trade deadline.

“There were plenty of situations where I’m like, ‘Man, why didn’t you just do it this way?’ ” Cousins recently told ESPN. “And there was plenty of times where I was a victim. But at the end of the day, it’s still on me. My biggest regret is not leaving when I had the chance.

“I had the chance, but I fought it. I had the chance to leave, but I didn’t.”

According to an NBA source, Cousins’ representatives told Kings general manager Vlade Divac after the 2014-15 season that their client wanted to be traded to the Los Angeles Lakers but was open to other possible deals.

Cousins ultimately told his representatives and the Kings that he wanted to stay.

“I wanted to give it a chance because my representatives told me I shouldn’t stay,” Cousins said. “I guess you could say I was stubborn and loyal. I wanted to make things work.”

Cousins regrets being loyal to the Kings.

“I kind of blame myself for even putting myself at that point,” Cousins said. “You knew coming in this was a business. How are you going to be loyal to something that ain’t even loyal to any player that’s ever played this game? I was a fool.

“But at the same time, it doesn’t change who I am. … I still live by that code. You’ve just got to learn how to separate business and your personal life. And all that did was teach me a lesson.”

Suns Receiving 'Pretty Intriguing Offers' For Eric Bledsoe

Oct 25, 2017 11:47 AM

The Phoenix Suns put Eric Bledsoe on the trade block on Monday and have received interest from the New York Knicks, Denver Nuggets and Milwaukee Bucks.

Ryan McDonough said publicly that the Suns have received some “pretty intriguing offers.”

McDonough added that since the guard is away from the team, there is no urgency to complete a deal.

“If you can imagine, my phone was ringing a lot yesterday,” McDonough said. “The ideal time to get a deal done is whenever the best offer presents itself. So we’d be fine doing it sooner rather than later. At the same time, he’s under contract for this year plus next year. We sent him away from the team to eliminate that distraction. So we’re willing to do a deal, we’re open to do a deal whenever the best offer presents itself.”

Ryan McDonough Publicly Critical Of Eric Bledsoe, Rich Paul

Oct 25, 2017 1:16 PM

Ryan McDonough questioned the leadership of Eric Bledsoe and the advice he is getting from his agent, Rich Paul, during a radio interview.

Bledsoe was sent home by McDonough as the Phoenix Suns search for a trade for him. The Suns also asked Bledsoe to sit out at the end of last season to improve their lottery position.

“I was certainly surprised by it and disappointed by it,” McDonough said. “I think Eric’s a good person. I think he’s unfortunately gotten some bad advice and is listening to the wrong people. I think generally, any time you sign a contract, it doesn’t only work one way. It works both ways, and for a guy with years on his contract to say or intimate he didn’t want to be here anymore, I didn’t find that to be appropriate, and I think if he says he wants to be a leader, that’s the opposite of what a leader does and the opposite of what leadership is. So I think that’s all I’m going to say about that.”

Bledsoe expressed it was time to move on while management replied that the Suns have underperformed since he was given starting point guard responsibilities.

“I think, just my opinion, the shift comes from contractual demands made by his representatives,” McDonough said of Bledsoe's desire to move on, “and that’s what I was referring to when I said I think he got bad advice.”

Later in the interview, McDonough tripled down on his criticisms of Bledsoe’s representation: “[Eric’s] a talented player and a good player, but like I said, I think he’s just being a little bit misguided at the moment with some of the advice he’s getting.”

Oct 23, 2017 3:05 PM

The Milwaukee Bucks are amongst the teams that have expressed interest in trading for Eric Bledsoe.

According to Ian Begley of ESPN, the New York Knicks also have interest.

Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders reports the Denver Nuggets have held discussions with the Suns and are building a package centered on Emmanuel Mudiay.

Ryan McDonough has publicly confirmed that the Suns intend to trade Bledsoe.

"We’re getting a lot of calls and I’ll return some of those calls when I’m done with you guys," McDonough said.

"This is a turning of the page. We're just trying to change the culture and building a foundation for long-term success."
