The Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs are reportedly slow-playing their negotiations on a trade involving Kawhi Leonard.

"The Lakers have not acted with great urgency," said Adrian Wojnarowski.

LeBron James may have to commit to the Lakers without an assurance that they will sign or trade for another star.

The Cleveland Cavaliers plan on keeping Kevin Love even if LeBron James leaves in free agency.

Love is owed approximately $50 million over the next two seasons.

"There is no reason to go backwards," one source said.

The Cavaliers acquired Love in 2014 in a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves and he signed a five-year max contract in the next offseason.

Wilson Chandler, Courtney Lee and Kent Bazemore are three players who are available in trade talks this offseason.

The Denver Nuggets are attempting to cut salary to reduce their tax bill and Chandler is on an expiring contract.

Lee is a trade candidate as the New York Knicks also have Tim Hardaway Jr. at shooting guard and drafted Kevin Knox at small forward.

The Atlanta Hawks are on a multi-year rebuild and they've been trying to unload Bazemore.

DeAndre Jordan continues to deliberate whether to opt-in or opt-out of his $24.1 million contract with the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Dallas Mavericks are interested in acquiring Jordan either via trade or free agency.

Jordan figures to wait until the deadline Friday evening before making a decision.

Jordan committed to signing with the Mavericks in 2015 but reversed course to re-sign with the Clippers.

The San Antonio Spurs preferred retaining Kawhi Leonard this offseason and hoped to repair the relationship. Leonard has been adamant in his trade demand and the Spurs have given up the hope of keeping him.

"I was told yesterday in pretty strong terms they're ready to move on," said Marc Stein on The Dan Patrick Show. "They know this relationship cannot be repaired. This is beyond Pop and Kawhi meeting face to face and fixing it as Pop was able to do with LaMarcus Aldridge last summer. It is pretty much gone at this point."

The Spurs are now open to trading Leonard but are not in a rush.

The Los Angeles Lakers are Leonard's preferred destination but the Philadelphia 76ers are another team that is seeking a trade for Leonard.

"Philadelphia badly wants him," said Stein.

The Boston Celtics are unlikely to make a blockbuster deal.

The Celtics have been mentioned as a possible destination for Kawhi Leonard.

"If I feel like it'll help our team -- we explore every trade of players of certain magnitude or superstar, first-ballot Hall of Fame-type of players," Danny Ainge said. "We're going to take a look and kick the tires and see if there's something there. But that's all.

"I think those things are unlikely."

DeAndre Jordan will likely wait until 11:15 on Friday before making a decision on his player option for the 18-19 season.

Jordan is owed $24.1 million by the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Dallas Mavericks are interested in Jordan, but the Clippers are resisting taking back Wesley Matthews in any deal involving Jordan.

Jordan could become a free agent and sign with the Clippers outright.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have considered the possibility of getting far enough under the cap to extend Jimmy Butler up to his max salary this summer.

The Wolves would need to get approximately $10 million under the cap, which would require unloading the salaries of Andrew Wiggins and Gorgui Dieng. The Wolves are unlikely to be successful on this front.

Butler is scheduled to be a free agent in 2019.

Wiggins could become a player the Wolves consider trading in the future either way due to luxury tax concerns.

The Atlanta Hawks, Chicago Bulls and Sacramento Kings have signaled they plan on using their prized cap space to take on bad salary and extra draft picks. Teams could be looking to decrease their luxury tax bill or to create cap space.

The decision from the Kings is interesting considering they don't own their first round draft pick this season as part of their trade with the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Hawks and Bulls are embarking on multi-year rebuilds.

The Los Angeles Clippers acquired Marcin Gortat this week in a deal involving Austin Rivers.

The Clippers will be fine with DeAndre Jordan opting into his contract with Gortat backing him up. If the Clippers do trade Jordan if he opts in, they already have their replacement at center in position.

Gortat is on the final season of his contract.

Jordan and the Mavericks have mutual interest.
