Lakers, Blazers, Knicks, Jazz, Wizards, Celtics, Pacers, Wolves, Kings Interested In Jerami Grant

Jan 18, 2022 11:22 AM

The Detroit Pistons have received interest in Jerami Grant from the Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trail Blazers, New York Knicks, Utah Jazz, Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics, Indiana Pacers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Sacramento Kings.

The Pistons are seeking either two first round picks or one first round pick plus a high upside young player in exchange for Grant.

Grant expects to sign a lucrative extension in the ballpark of four years, $112 million this offseason.

Washington is viewed by some league personnel as a favorite to trade for Grant. Grant grew up in the D.C. area and is familiar with Wes Unseld Jr. from their time together with the Denver Nuggets.

The Memphis Grizzlies have been mentioned in some circles speculatively, but they're not expected to pursue Grant.

Nets Considering Trade Of Nic Claxton

Jan 18, 2022 8:26 AM

The Brooklyn Nets have tested the trade market for Nic Claxton.

"You mentioned Day'Ron Sharpe, so there's been some chatter through a couple of teams I've talked to that the Nets have dipped their toe into the trade market for Nic Claxton," said Brian Windhorst on his podcast. "In other words, maybe thinking about trading him.

"When I say this, I know I'll get aggregated for saying it but I know this would surprise some people because they'd say 'This guy is really valuable defensively. He's very active.'

"He's been out recently with a hamstring injury, but he's a free agent [this offseason]."

Sharpe has played solid minutes for the Nets at center, which could make losing Claxton more manageable for the team.

Windhorst closed his report by indicating that it was a "feeling out of the market" for Claxton.

'Noise Circulating' That 76ers Want To Try To Acquire James Harden In 2022 Offseason

Jan 17, 2022 4:03 PM

The Philadelphia 76ers tried to trade for James Harden during the 20-21 season, but he was eventually moved by the Houston Rockets to the Brooklyn Nets. The interest in Harden coming from Daryl Morey and the 76ers is believed to continue now.

Harden will be a free agent this offseason after he decided not to sign an extension with the Nets.

The 76ers could build a sign-and-trade deal for Harden around Ben Simmons, should they not trade him before the deadline.

"Yet it must be noted that there is enough noise circulating leaguewide about Harden's reported openness to relocation this summer — after he turned down a lucrative extension from the Nets in October — to give Morey the encouragement he needs to wait," writes Marc Stein at Substack.

Nuggets Interested In Trade For Bryn Forbes

Jan 17, 2022 9:02 AM

The Denver Nuggets have expressed interest in trading for San Antonio Spurs guard Bryn Forbes. The Spurs are shopping Forbes, who is on a one-year, $4.5 million contract.

Denver has been looking to upgrade their shooting around Nikola Jokic. The Nuggets currently rank in the bottom half of the NBA in three-point shooting, which is Forbes' specialty. Denver is hoping to get Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. back before the end of the season but could use some shot-making until then.

San Antonio rarely makes in-season deals but has Forbes and veteran big man Thaddeus Young available leading up to the trade deadline. Young isn't a part of the Spurs rotation and is widely expected to be traded or bought out. Moving Forbes would open up more playing time for a host of young San Antonio guards, including Joshua Primo, Devin Vassell and Tre Jones.

Rockets Seeking First Round Pick For Eric Gordon

Jan 17, 2022 8:55 AM

The Houston Rockets have made Eric Gordon available leading up to the trade deadline, and they seek an ambitious return. Houston is letting rival teams know they want a first-round pick for Gordon.

The 33-year-old guard has three seasons left on his contract. Gordon's deal is for $18.2 million for this season, $19.6 million for 22-23 and $20.9 million for 23-24. That final season is fully non-guaranteed, unless Gordon's team wins the NBA Finals in 2022 or 2023.

This season Gordon has averaged 14.9 points on 50.5% shooting from the field, including 45.5% from behind the arc. He's also stayed relatively healthy, appearing in 38 of Houston's 45 games.

Indiana Asking For First Round Pick And Young Player For Caris LeVert

Jan 17, 2022 8:43 AM

The Indiana Pacers are seeking to reset their roster, and trading Caris LeVert seems to be a part of that process. Indiana would like a first-round pick and a young player in return for LeVert.

The Pacers are also talking trades for big men Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis. Indiana doesn't want to fully rebuild. They are looking to reset their roster around whichever big man remains out of Turner or Sabonis, along with Malcolm Brogdon and rookie Chris Duarte.

LeVert has averaged 17.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. Several playoff contenders have been linked to LeVert to provide offense on the wing. The Cleveland Cavaliers are regularly mentioned as a team looking at trading for LeVert.

This season, Turner is averaging 12.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game. He went on record recently that he'd like a bigger role in the Pacers offense.

Knicks Want To Acquire Jalen Brunson

Jan 16, 2022 9:42 AM

After completing a trade for Cam Reddish of the Atlanta Hawks, the New York Knicks are hoping for more. The next target on the Knicks list is Jalen Brunson of the Dallas Mavericks.

Brunson's father, Rick, was one of Leon Rose's first clients when he was starting out as a sports agent. Rose now runs the Knicks front office. In the past, New York has engaged Dallas on trade talks involving Brunson.

Brunson is eligible to sign a contract extension with the Mavs. Or Brunson could opt for unrestricted free agency, and a potentially bigger payday this summer.

New York has reportedly also had discussions about acquiring Jerami Grant of the Detroit Pistons and Myles Turner of the Indiana Pacers.

'Rising Belief' Kings Will Trade Harrison Barnes By Deadline

Jan 14, 2022 1:50 PM

Harrison Barnes has been mentioned in trade rumors for more than a year and there is a "rising belief around the league" that the Sacramento Kings will pull the trigger on a deal by the deadline in February.

Barnes signed a four-year, $85 million deal with the Kings in 2019 as a free agent.

Barnes remains one of the league's better three-and-D small forwards with the ability to also play small ball four.

The Kings are also expected to trade Buddy Hield.
