Nets Trade For Okur

Dec 22, 2011 7:47 PM

Mehmet Okur was sent from Utah to New Jersey for a second-round pick in 2015.

The Nets acted quickly to acquire a big man on the same day that they lost center Brook Lopez to a stress fracture for an indefinite period of time.

The Nets were able to absorb Okur's contract with the team's salary cap space.

Bobcats Acquire Mullens From Thunder For 2013 2nd Round Pick

Dec 19, 2011 1:55 PM

Thunder Executive General Manager Sam Presti announced today that the team has acquired a 2013 2nd round draft pick from the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for center Byron Mullens and cash considerations.

"While we believe that Byron will be a productive player in this league, it became apparent that in the near future it would be difficult for him to continue his development and have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our club because of the current make-up of our roster,” Presti said. “This trade allows us the opportunity to create both future financial and roster flexibility while providing us with an additional draft pick in 2013."

Hornets Trade Chris Paul To Clippers

Dec 15, 2011 2:15 AM

The New Orleans Hornets announced on Wednesday that they have acquired forward Al-Farouq Aminu, guard Eric Gordon, center Chris Kaman and Minnesota’s 2012 unprotected first round pick from the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for guard Chris Paul and two 2015 second round picks.

“We wanted to make sure that we got the best possible deal for a player of Chris’ caliber, and we feel great about the outcome,” Hornets Chairman and Governor Jac Sperling said. “We feel our future looks very bright and we look forward to continue to create an organization that New Orleans will be proud of. We want to thank Chris Paul, an extraordinary person who contributed so greatly to our basketball team and our community. We wish him the best of luck.”

“With this trade, we now have three additional players who were among the top eight draft picks in their respective drafts as well as our own first round pick and Minnesota’s first round pick,” said Hornets General Manager Dell Demps. “Aminu is a young talent with a bright future, Gordon is a big time scorer and one of the best two guards in the league and Kaman is a proven center and former All-Star. Combined with our other players, we will field a competitive team and our future looks great.”

The Denver Nuggets have acquired Rudy Fernandez and Corey Brewer from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for a second-round draft pick, Nuggets executive vice president of basketball operations Masai Ujiri announced today.

The draft pick was originally obtained by the Nuggets from the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Steven Hunter on Aug. 7, 2009.

“We are excited to add two talented young wing players who have proven themselves in the NBA,” Ujiri said. “They add depth to our roster, something that helped us finish strong last season, and I’m confident they will fit well with Coach Karl’s style of play.”
