Randolph Apologizes To Teammates, Shocked About Suspension

May 3, 2014 8:35 PM

Zach Randolph apologized to his Memphis Grizzlies' teammates before Game 7 for his suspension, but was shocked to receive work from the NBA on Friday.

“It hurts,” Randolph said from a hotel less than a mile from Chesapeake Energy Arena about 90 minutes before tip-off. “I apologized to the guys. I feel like I let them down. I’ve got a lot of emotions going on right now, and rightfully so. When I woke up the next morning (after Game 6), I didn’t have any idea I was going to get suspended. I’m upset about it. I’m still in shock.

“This has been a physical series. There’s been stuff happening under the basket the whole series. I don’t think it was a punch. That kind of stuff happens all the time – blocking out, facing guarding. It just happens. Adams will even tell you I didn’t punch him. It was a push.”
