Jahlil Okafor 'Not Proud' Of Off-Court Incidents

Nov 30, 2015 12:17 PM

Jahlil Okafor apologized for several off-court incidents in his personal life.

Okafor was pulled over about three weeks ago for driving 108 MPH in a 45 MPH zone. Okafor was also involved in a fight outside a Boston nightclub.

"I hold myself to a higher standard than anyone else ever could and I'm not proud of some of my decisions over the last few months," Okafor tweeted. "I own my choices both personally and now publicly. At this point I am cooperating and respecting the process I have to go through."

Okafor declined to address the issues with reporters.

"I'm not talking about anything but basketball," Okafor said before Sunday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies at FedExForum. "I already made my statement."

Brett Brown said he's unsure if Okafor will receive a suspension.

"As an organization, anything like this is concerning."

"It's like any 19-year-old kid," Brown said. "You are trying to find ways to help him.

"He's knows he's made mistakes, and we know he's made mistakes. As an organization we will deal with them as we need to and should."

Jahlil Okafor Punches Man Outside Boston Nightclub

Nov 27, 2015 11:34 AM

Jahlil Okafor was involved in a fight outside a Boston nightclub early Thursday morning, according to a video obtained and published by TMZ.

Okafor is seen shouting at several individuals and then shoves a man to the ground.

Okafor then punches a man after at least one person tries to restrain him, knocking him to the ground again.

At the start of the video, Okafor can be heard shouting to someone, "We got money, you broke ass . . ." He utters a racial slur.

Boston police don't plan on investigating the fight unless someone involved comes forward to say they were victim of a crime.

"Apparently, they said: 'The 76ers suck and you guys are all losers. You'll never win a game,' " a source close to Okafor told ESPN's Jeff Goodman.

"I was around the corner when it happened. I saw him a minute after he knocked the dude out," the source said. "I think the guy was just talking s---. Saying the Sixers suck."

Jason Kidd Ejected After Knocking Ball Out Of Ref's Hands

Nov 26, 2015 10:32 AM

Jason Kidd was ejected from Wednesday's game after knocking the ball away from a referee's hands.

Kidd said he was sticking up for himself and protecting his players before he was tossed.

"I walked all the way down to get a timeout," Kidd said, "and then we had our discussion. He gave me the T.

"From there, I'm trying to protect my guys. Understanding we felt we were getting fouled and the whistle wasn't being blown. What happens in this league, you have to stand up for yourself, and my job is to protect those young guys.

"But that wasn't the issue of the game. We gave them warm-up jump shots. They got our temperature, saw we didn't want to play defense and they took advantage of it. That's as easy as it is."

Kidd was restrained by O.J. Mayo and an assistant coach.

NBRA Believes Mike Budenholzer Should Have Been Suspended

Nov 23, 2015 5:15 PM

Mike Budenholzer has received a $25,000 fine for making contact with referee Ben Taylor.

But the National Basketball Referees Association believes Budenholzer should have received a suspension.

The incident occurred on Saturday.

"Referees operate in environment in which an influential NBA team owner has repeatedly mocked the efficacy of fines as means to change bad behavior. Coaches should compete by creating better teams, not by physically intimidating officials."
