Draymond Green Didn't Want Tristan Thompson To Be Suspended For Game 2

Jun 12, 2018 11:32 AM

Draymond Green didn't want Tristan Thompson to be suspended during The Finals following their altercation at the end of Game 1.

The NBA was considering a suspension for Thompson until they interviewed Green.

Green was asked by the NBA whether he expected any negative emotions with Thompson to spill over into Game 2. Green refuted that notion, even when explaining the moment when Thompson shoved the ball in his face.

"Man, it's the Warriors versus the Cavaliers, not the Bloods versus the Crips," Green said to the NBA.

Jun 2, 2018 9:52 AM

Tristan Thompson has been fined $25,000 for failing to leave the court in a timely manner following his ejection and for shoving the basketball in the face of Draymond Green.

The incident occurred with 2.6 seconds remaining in overtime of the Warriors’ 124-114 win over the Cavaliers on Thursday, May 31 at Oracle Arena.

Thompson’s Flagrant 2, which was assessed for his actions in contesting a jump shot by Warriors guard Shaun Livingston, was downgraded to a Flagrant 1 upon league office review. The foul occurred directly prior to Thompson’s interaction with Green.

Tristan Thompson, Kevin Love Could Receive Suspensions For Game 2

Jun 1, 2018 9:53 AM

Tristan Thompson and Kevin Love could be subject to suspensions for Game 2 due to their part in an altercation in the closing seconds of overtime in Game 1.

Thompson shoved the ball in the face of Draymond Green after he was already ejected.

Love was out of the game at the time, but could be subject to the NBA's automatic suspension rule for stepping onto the court while an altercation is ongoing. Love was quickly summoned off the court by an assistant coach.

Love was not concerned about receiving a potential suspension.

"No," Love told ESPN. "I was already on the court trying to get the refs' attention before the scuffle."

Thompson was ejected after he aggressively contested a shot attempt from Shaun Livingston.
