Griffin Feeling 100 Percent Recovered From Knee Surgery

Aug 25, 2012 12:00 PM

Blake Griffin missed the Olympics due to knee surgery, but he has healed and is excited for the coming season.

"I came back after surgery and started rehabbing and getting back into it. I've been shooting and lifting [weights] and all that for a while now," Griffin told The Times in telephone interview Friday. "So, I'm pretty much back at 100%, been back at 100% for a little bit. So I'm good."

Griffin's latest knee injury had nothing to do with the stress fracture of his left patella, and the subsequent surgery that forced him to miss the 09-10 season.

"In talking to my doctor, he told me if this was the season and the playoffs were coming up, I would have been out two or three weeks," Griffin said. "We're kind of taking our time with it and really making sure we meet every single area and making sure that my strength is 100% back to where it needs to be.

"But it's been there for two or three weeks now. So, really, I'm just kind of working myself into condition and still getting my basketball work in and getting my lifts in."

Bogut Expects To Be Ready For Season Opener

Aug 20, 2012 10:53 AM

Andrew Bogut expects to be in the Warriors lineup for the season opener on Oct. 31.

“That’s my goal,” Bogut said. “I definitely want to be ready for training camp, and I think it will be close. But I think I’ll definitely be ready for the first game. So the immediate goal with all of this is to be ready for the first game, whether that means only playing in only half the preseason games or whatever or just being smart.

“It’s about being smart with my ankle. There’s no point in trying to get ready for October 1st, when another week might significantly help. I’m trying to get ready for camp, but my main goal is to be 110 percent for the first game of the season.”

Bogut has undergone two arthroscopic surgeries since fracturing his left ankle on Jan. 25.

Stephen Curry Expects To Be At Full Strength For Training Camp

Aug 16, 2012 10:00 PM

Stephen Curry plans to be at full strength when training camp starts in October and he said he has no doubt he'll be ready for the season-opener.

"No. None at all," Curry said. "The whole point of having surgery when I did and being patient with my rehab is so that on Oct. 31, I'm not having any restrictions or hesitancy."

Curry said his rehab is progressing according to plan.

"I'm just making sure that when I'm reacting, making cuts, especially on the defensive end, that my ankle is responding the right way," he said. "I know it will, but right now we're just taking each step: one-on-one, two-on-two, three-on-three to controlled five-on-five and then going full bore. That's the plan right now."

Rose Using Doubters For Fuel To Recover From Torn ACL

Aug 16, 2012 9:57 PM

Derrick Rose is using skepticism about his recovery from a torn ACL as fuel to perform well this coming season.

"I know it's going to push me even harder. It seemed like I missed all last year -- played games here and there, but I still missed a lot of games -- and this year, I know a whole bunch of haters out there are saying so many things,” Rose said. “I think that's what's going to drive me, thinking about what people are saying -- 'Is he going to be back, is he going to have his speed,' or this and that -- I know that's going to push me as a player. I'm listening and watch everything, and if I don't hear it, best believe one of my friends hears it and they're telling me. That's why I love them to death because they know that motivates me and makes me want to do better as a player."

Asked about the Heat winning a title, Rose said, "With them winning a championship? Hopefully mine is next year and that's the way I'm looking at it. I've just got to believe in myself, believe in the team and really work my butt off."

Rubio On Track For Early Return From Torn ACL

Aug 15, 2012 10:17 PM

Ricky Rubio has been making incremental strides since March surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee.

"The doctors said he was progressing faster than normal, and normal was supposed to be in January," Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor said. "Faster than normal would be December. He's going to start running and stuff in a few weeks."

Taylor is optimistic about his team’s chances of making the playoffs next season.

"That's a high challenge, but I'm not going to shy away from it," Taylor said. "We've got a very good coach (Rick Adelman) and some of the players that he wanted, and without injuries, and if Ricky can get back soon, that should be our goal, to be in the playoffs."
