Patrick Beverley Expects To Return This Season From Torn Meniscus

Mar 30, 2014 7:04 PM

Patrick Beverley will see Dr. James Andrews on Monday and surgery to remove part of his torn meniscus has not been discussed in recommendations from Andrews and the Houston Rockets' doctors.

Beverley said he could be out 10 to 14 days or up to four weeks and believes he will "for sure" return at some point this season.

“No one was going to remove anything,” Beverley said. “We haven’t even discussed surgery yet. It looks to the point I think I might not have to get surgery. We don’t know.

"I feel pretty good. I feel like I knocked knees with somebody. It hurt a lot the first day. I don’t really feel a lot of pain today, which is a good sign. No swelling. So I’m going to go see the best knee doctor in the country. I spoke to him on the phone. He has seen it. It really looks good. We’ll see how long it lasts.

“I don’t feel a lot of pain, which is a great thing. No swelling, which is a great thing. It wasn’t in the same area a lot of players tore their meniscus. I feel pretty confident about it. I know how my body reacts to certain things. I know how I feel. I feel great. I feel like if I put on the brace I’ll be all right to play today. We have to get his opinion and see where we go from there. If I feel healthy, I’m going to play.”

Beverley is listed as day-to-day by the Rockets.

Mar 27, 2014 2:15 PM

Ersan Ilyasova will begin rehabilitation on his right ankle and is not expected to play for the remainder of the season, the Milwaukee Bucks announced Thursday.

Aldridge To Play For First Time In Seven Games

Mar 27, 2014 12:28 PM

LaMarcus Aldridge will return to the Portland Trail Blazers' lineup for the first time in seven games on Thursday against the Atlanta Hawks.

Aldridge was out with a back injury suffered during a nasty fall on March 12.

“I’m going,” Aldridge said. “We’ll see how it goes, but I’m going.”

Aldridge said he still feels some pain in the back when he runs, but he said it’s just time he plays.

“I want to come back because I’ve been out so long,” he said. “I didn’t think it was going to take this long, but backs are a sensitive area to injure. It’s taken longer, and we’ve exhausted every treatment and every option to rehab, so try it out.”
