Stephen Curry 'Playing At 70 Percent, At Best'

May 25, 2016 10:12 AM

Stephen Curry has struggled in Games 3 and 4 of the Golden State Warriors' series against the Oklahoma City Thunder, not showing any of the explosion he had during his MVP season before injuring his knee.

"He's playing at 70 percent, at best," a source close to Curry said.

Curry has downplayed the injury in his comments to the media.

Privately, the Oklahoma City Thunder have seen how Curry doesn't have the ability to make the big men switching onto him pay a price.

Curry injured his ankle in Game 1 of the first round and then his knee when he returned in Game 4 slipping on a wet spot in Houston.

Stephen Curry Insists He's Not Injured

May 25, 2016 10:12 AM

Stephen Curry struggled in Game 4, scoring just 19 points on 20 shooting possessions in the Golden State Warriors' loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

"No, I'm fine," said Curry when asked about his knee.

Steve Kerr also was asked if Curry is still injured. Curry suffered a sprained MCL in Game 4 of the first round while also hurting his elbow in Game 2 of this series..

"He's not injured," Kerr said. "He's coming back from the knee, but he's not injured. He just had a lousy night. It happens, even to the best players in the world."

Kevin Love Expects To Play In Game 5 After Stepping On Ref's Foot

May 24, 2016 10:15 AM

Kevin Love sat out the entire fourth quarter of the Cleveland Cavaliers' Game 4 loss to the Toronto Raptors after stepping on a referee's foot.

Love injured the knee more than the ankle with the accident.

"I think Kyrie [Irving] was shooting towards the end of the third quarter, and I stepped on the official's foot, and it didn't feel too great," said Love, who had a total of 13 points and 11 rebounds in Games 3 and 4. "More so the knee [than the ankle hurting]. Will be sore tomorrow, but nothing that will prevent me from playing."

Love suffered a season-ending injury in last year's playoffs when he hurt his shoulder.

Joel Embiid Making Progress But Remains Unlikely For Summer League

May 20, 2016 10:38 AM

Joel Embiid is unlikely to participate in Summer League with the Philadelphia 76ers.

But Embiid continues to make oncourt progress returning from multiple foot surgeries.

The 76ers want to make sure Embiid doesn't suffer a setback before the start of the regular season.

Asked Tuesday at the lottery if Embiid's situation is a cloud hanging over the organization, Bryan Colangelo replied, "I'd like to think of it as just an uncertainty, not necessarily a cloud. It's one more thing we're going through as far as progress and development.

"I would tell you that things are moving along, apparently in a very good fashion right now. And we're hopeful that he's part of things. Obviously, we're just going to have to wait and see how that plays out."

Stephen Curry's Elbow Healing, Not Likely To Go On Injury Report

May 19, 2016 7:12 PM

The Golden State Warriors are not expected to list Stephen Curry on the injury report with an injured elbow.

The swollen bursa sac, which Curry said looks like a tennis ball, didn’t need to be drained, and the team’s medical staff thinks the swelling will continue to improve before Game 3.

“The elbow is fine,” Curry said after scoring 15 of his team-high 28 points in a two-minute, third-quarter sequence of the Game 2 win Wednesday. “It looks like it has a tennis ball on top of it, but it doesn’t affect range of motion or anything, so I’ll be alright.”

Curry injured the elbow while chasing a loose ball into the stands.

Jonas Valanciunas Ruled Out For Game 1

May 16, 2016 8:16 PM

Jonas Valanciunas has been ruled out of Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals as he continues to recover from a sprained right ankle.

"He's going to get treatment day to day," Dwane Casey said during a conference call on Monday. "I don't foresee it but I'm not committing to it. Just going to see how his body reacts and comes through rehab. It's going to be very difficult for Game 2. But to cancel him out for the entire series, I don't know."

Bismack Biyombo has entered the starting lineup at center.

"We're not going to jeopardize further hurting his ankle just to get him out there for a game," Casey said. "If he's not 100 percent we're not going to damage it."

Stephen Curry Practices Without Knee Brace

May 15, 2016 5:28 PM

Stephen Curry practiced on Sunday without a brace on his injured right knee.

Curry doesn't expect the topic of his sprained MCL to be a topic moving forward.

"You probably won't hear me talk about it much after this," Curry said. "I'll be out there playing so it's nothing to worry about."

Curry sprained his MCL three weeks ago.

Curry played in Games 4 and 5 of the second round against the Portland Trail Blazers.

"There's nothing structurally wrong," Curry said. "I'm past the point where pain can shut things down, but it is still there."

Curry averaged 34.5 points, 9.5 assists and 7.0 rebounds in the two games he played against Portland, believes he can play his game effectively.

"I'm pretty confident going into the series I can be effective on the floor doing everything that I want to do and play the way I normally to play," Curry said. "Honestly it hasn't gotten much better in the last week, but it hasn't gotten worse either. I'm alright with that."
