Warriors Keep Klay Thompson Out Of Both Preseason Games In Japan

Sep 30, 2022 10:14 AM

The Golden State Warriors will not play Klay Thompson in either of their two preseason games in Japan.

The Warriors held just three practices in San Francisco before their flight to Japan last Wednesday.

"Just feel more comfortable giving him a little more of a ramp up," Steve Kerr said ahead of the Warriors' 96-87 win over the Washington Wizards on Friday. "He's just not quite ready to play at this point just based on where, you know, we're so early in camp. We just want to be safe and make sure he gets a good ramp up before he plays in games."

Thompson was under a strict restriction last season as he worked his way back from a torn ACL and Achilles.

"Just coming off the two years with the injuries, this is really unique to play a game after 3½ practices so we're just being cautious and trying to do the smart thing," Kerr said.

Anthony Davis On Suffering Wrist Injury From Last Season: 'I Couldn't Follow Through'

Sep 29, 2022 1:34 AM

Anthony Davis said that a wrist injury he suffered last January contributed to his shooting struggles.

"A lot of people don't know this, but since January I was battling a wrist injury the whole year. So it was affecting my shot and everything. That's not an excuse but it was tough for me to shoot how I wanted to shoot. I couldn't really follow through.

"I couldn't follow through. Anytime I followed through it was very painful," said Davis on Wednesday.

Davis, who missed 42 games last season due to injury, shot 18.6% from the three-point line.

The Lakers as a team ranked 22nd in the league from three.

Davis added that he was fully healthy and shooting the ball well heading into this season.

"I'm 100 percent healthy. I feel great. You can ask guys around here, I'm really shooting the ball. So, I'll be ready. Wherever coach puts me on the floor, midrange, post, perimeter, if I've got a shot, I'm going to shoot it."

Nets To Reassess T.J. Warren In November

Sep 29, 2022 1:16 AM

Steve Nash said that the Brooklyn Nets will reassess T.J. Warren's status in November.

“T.J. we’re going to assess again in November. He’s doing great, he’s building up. We knew this going in.

"We also don’t want to take big risks with T.J. He’s been out for two years, so it’s a process that we want to be very confident in and make a firm decision as an organization not to rush him," said Nash on Wednesday.

Warren, who missed all of last season due to stress fractures in his foot, signed a minimum deal with the Nets this offseason.

Lonzo Ball 'Can't Run Or Jump' Due To Knee Pain, Says Missing Season Is 'Worst-Case Scenario'

Sep 27, 2022 10:54 PM

Lonzo Ball discussed his upcoming knee surgery on media day, saying that he still can't run or jump without feeling pain.

"There was a point where we would warm up and stuff, and I would go through certain days and it would be fine. Then whenever I got to real basketball activities, I just couldn't do it ... this will be my third surgery, so this time around I really don't want to rush anything," said Ball.

With the surgery set to take place on Wednesday, Ball is currently scheduled to be reevaluated in 4-6 weeks. There is currently no timetable on his return.

Ball added that while he was going to remain patient in letting his knee heal, he did not think he would miss the upcoming season.

"That's not in my mind right now, but that would be the worst-case scenario. I'm at a point now where I know I can't get back out there until I'm comfortable playing and can actually play. So whenever that day comes, that's when I'll have the jersey back on."
