Team Execs Skeptical NBA Draft Will Remain Scheduled For Oct. 16

Aug 21, 2020 11:36 AM

Team executives have become skeptical that the 2020 NBA Draft will proceed as scheduled on October 16th, according to Zach Lowe.

The start of NBA free agency, currently scheduled for October 18th, is already expected to be postponed.

There is doubt that the NBA and NBPA will be able to agree to a firm salary cap for the 20-21 by either date. The cap is determined by the NBA's overall revenue projection, based in large part on the revenue from the current season. The final cap number typically arrives between he draft and free agency. This year as scheduled, there are only 48 hours between events.

The NBA may prefer to keep the current draft date to capitalize on momentum coming out of the bubble.

"There are lots of people around the NBA ecosystem who don't expect free agency to start until sometime in November, or perhaps even early December," wrote Lowe.

Warriors To Use No. 2 Overall Pick In Trade Talks

Aug 20, 2020 8:59 PM

The Golden State Warriors will pursue trade scenarios with the No. 2 overall pick, Bob Myers tells ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Warriors are attempting to maximize their title window and a trade of the pick would likely help more than a young player.

Knicks Worked Out Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Prior To 2018 NBA Draft

Aug 20, 2020 1:41 AM

The New York Knicks worked out Shai Gilgeous-Alexander before the 2018 NBA Draft, sources told Ian Begley of SNY.

The Knicks would end up drafting Kevin Knox with the ninth selection due to his size and shooting ability he displayed at Kentucky.

Gilgeous-Alexander would go two picks later to the Hornets, before his rights were traded to the Clippers.

Leon Rose is reportedly not sold on Knox's future with the team.

Knox averaged 6.4 points and 2.8 rebounds per game last season.

D'Angelo Russell will represent the Minnesota Timberwolves at the 2020 NBA draft lottery.

The Wolves acquired Russell from the Golden State Warriors at the trade deadline.

"I’m honored to represent the Timberwolves at this year’s draft lottery," said Russell. "We are excited about what we are building in Minnesota and look forward to continuing the progress with the lottery and in the draft.”

The Wolves have a 14 percent chance of winning the lottery.

Minnesota won the lottery in 2015 when they had the best odds and subsequently selected Karl-Anthony Towns. The Wolves have never moved up in the lottery as they have only gone down or stayed neutral.
