LeBron Okay With Ben Simmons' Comparisons

Dec 5, 2015 4:01 PM

Ben Simmons has been compared to LeBron James with his abilities as a passer despite having the height of a forward.

James doesn't mind the comparison.

"I don't mind it," James said Friday. "Someone's going to be compared to someone all the time, and I don't mind him being compared to me. People not only recognizing what he does on the floor, but he's a great kid, too. He has a great family, great support system, and that's why he's able to do what he [does] on the floor."

"He's one of the best players in the world that's played the game," Simmons said in an interview with ESPN. "I just try to take little parts of his game and put it into mine. His size is one of the things that I look at. I'm 6-10, and he's right at 6-8 or 6-9, and I just try and fit what he does into my game."

Discussions On Lottery Reform Unlikely Before CBA Talks Open

Dec 4, 2015 7:13 PM

The NBA is unlikely to have another discussion of lottery reform until the next session of collective bargaining in 2016 or 2017.

Last fall, Adam Silver submitted a proposal that would have flattened the lottery odds but it was voted down by 12 teams voting with the Philadelphia 76ers. The Oklahoma City Thunder were among the teams to lead a behind-the-scenes lobbying effort.

The fear was small market teams would be at a disadvantage to tanking for a high draft pick.

Celtics Tried To Use Hornets' No. 9 Pick To Trade Up With Knicks To No. 4

Dec 1, 2015 1:49 PM

In last year's draft, the Boston Celtics initially pursued a trade for the Charlotte Hornets' No. 9 pick with the idea of sending it to the Knicks, along with Boston's No. 15 pick to move up to No. 4.

The Celtics were targeting Justise Winslow at No. 4, just as they were at No. 9.

Charlotte refused the pitches from the Celtics and ended up taking Frank Kaminsky, while Kristaps Porzingis went No. 4 overall to the Knicks.

The Miami Heat selected Winslow with the 10th overall pick.

"We listened," Steve Mills says. "But we were never close."
