Nikola Mirotic Named Euroleague MVP For December

Dec 26, 2011 10:04 AM

Real Madrid's Nikola Mirotic has been named Euroleague MVP for the month of December.

During four games in December, Mirotic dominated like never before in leading his team to a perfect record with wins over three other Euroleague Top 16 teams to clinch first place in Group C and a No. 1 seed in the Top 16 Draw.

He recorded his first career Euroleague double-double, set career highs in index rating, scoring and steals and earned weekly MVP honors for the first time. His 18.5 points per game in December came with excellent efficiency.

Mirotic also averaged 6.8 rebounds per game.

The Bulls own the draft rights to Mirotic.

Knicks May Look To Add Kenyon Martin, Wilson Chandler

Dec 23, 2011 10:16 AM

A source familiar with the Knicks' thinking said it is "possible" the Knicks would have interest in signing Kenyon Martin later in the season if they need a jolt up front and they will pocket their $2.5 million exception.

A source said the 33-year-old former Nets star would be amenable to joining the Knicks.

Another Chinese league player of interest also would be ex-Knick Wilson Chandler, who still is playing in Asia and also wouldn't be eligible until March.

Multiple sources said Chandler would love a return to the Knicks, who reluctantly traded him to Denver in the Carmelo Anthony deal last February.

Chinese Team Considering Releasing Kenyon Martin

Dec 18, 2011 6:48 PM

The Xinjiang Flying Tigers in China are giving strong consideration to releasing star forward Kenyon Martin, according to sources close to the situation.

If Xinjiang goes through with the move, it would be the test case for established NBA players who signed in China during the lockout to possibly return to the NBA sooner than expected.

Sources told ESPN.com that only the threat of serious sanctions from Chinese league officials for releasing a player of Martin's stature in-season, including the potential forfeiture of games, has stopped Xinjiang from making the move already.
