Alexey Shved To Strongly Consider Return To Europe As Free Agent For Lucrative Offers

Dec 17, 2014 2:23 PM

Philadelphia’s Alexey Shved has hoped to continue his NBA career as an unrestricted free agent at season’s end, but the Russian guard will instead strongly consider returning to Europe where he has received outlines for multimillion dollar offers, league sources told RealGM.

Shved was dealt to the 76ers in the summer after two seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves, and he has shown glimpses of the scoring and ball-handling that impressed many around the league in his rookie season of 2012-13.

In 17 games this season, Shved has averaged 9.9 points, 2.7 assists, 1.3 rebounds and 40 percent field-goal shooting. Through early December, Shved had been one of four NBA players with a usage shooting percentage over 26, total shooting percentage over 55 and an assist percentage over 36 — joining Stephen Curry, Jeff Teague and Dwyane Wade.

Nevertheless, Shved has lost enjoyment for his current situation due to low minutes. The 6-foot-6 product averaged nearly 23 minutes as a rookie, but just 10.5 per game a season ago. Despite being one of their most productive players this season, the 76ers have played Shved only 16.8 minutes a game. Before dealing Shved to the 76ers, the Timberwolves scanned several other teams interested in him, including the Indiana Pacers, league sources said.

If he ultimately returns to Europe as a free agent, Shved, 26, would recoup significant minutes and a lucrative offer comparable to, if not higher than, his NBA value.

Shved went unselected in the 2010 NBA Draft, but he signed a guaranteed three-year contract with the T’Wolves in 2012. As a rookie, Shved participated in the Rookie-Sophomore Rising Stars game at NBA All-Star Weekend. He played for CSKA Moscow before joining the NBA.

Miroslav Raduljica Expected To Become Free For Mid-January NBA Deal

Dec 15, 2014 2:27 PM

Seven-foot center Miroslav Raduljica is expected to become available in free agency within the next one-to-two weeks depending on a buyout settlement with Shandong of the Chinese Basketball Association, sources told RealGM.

Raduljica has received interest from several NBA teams for a midseason acquisition, sources said, but no deal would take place before the Jan. 10 date for contract guarantees around the league.

In 13 games for Shandong, Raduljica averaged 17.6 points and 8.4 rebounds while shooting 56 percent from the field. Shandong has brought Earl Clark on a tryout deal and is widely expected to reach a parting agreement with Raduljica.

After being traded from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Los Angeles Clippers, Raduljica was released and had dialogue with several NBA teams before signing a guaranteed contract with Shandong. He averaged 3.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 54 percent shooting in one season with Milwaukee.

In the Serbian national team’s silver medal run in the World Cup of Basketball over the summer, Raduljica, 26, scored 13 points and grabbed nearly five rebounds per game.

Dec 8, 2014 9:06 AM

Free agent Daniel Orton has signed with Sichuan of the Chinese Basketball Association and is set to replace Metta World Peace on the permanent roster, sources told RealGM.

Orton formally signed his lucrative contract with Sichuan under the plan of finishing the Chinese season alongside fellow American import Mike Efevberha, who is leading the club in points (26.4), rebounds (8.1), assists (2.5) and blocks (.86) per game.

After signing a rich deal in the CBA last offseason, World Peace has averaged 19.6 points and 6.2 rebounds while shooting 42 percent from the field over 13 games for Sichuan. World Peace, a 15-year NBA veteran and a one-time All-Star, had hoped to return to the league once his season in China ended.

Orton, a first round pick in the 2010 NBA draft out of Kentucky, has played three NBA seasons with the Orlando Magic, Oklahoma City Thunder and Philadelphia 76ers. The 6-foot-10 big man averaged 2.8 points and 2.5 rebounds in 51 games.

Orton, 24, went to training camp with the Washington Wizards in October, before requesting his release to sign a temporary deal with Shanxi in China.
