Victor Wembanyama has opted out of his contract with ASVEL Villeurbanne and is signing a two-year contract with Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans 92 from Paris.

Wembanyama is the projected No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft.

Wembanyama was pursued by teams and leagues around the globe, including G League Ignite, the Australian NBL, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Basket and many others.

Wembanyama had an opt-out clause in his contract with ASVEL that needed to be executed by June 29th.

Wembanyama played 33 of 76 possible games this season in the Euroleague and France, dealing with several minor injuries which played a role in his departure. 

Emoni Bates has transferred from Memphis to Eastern Michigan.

The star from Ypsilanti, Michigan, released a list of six schools in early May, a group that included Michigan, Arkansas, Seton Hall, DePaul and Louisville as well as Eastern Michigan. 

Bates was the No. 1 recruit in the 2022 class until he reclassified last summer and ended up at No. 3 in 2021.

Bates originally committed to Michigan State in the summer of 2020 and then reopened his recruitment in April 2021, but it was widely expected Bates would skip college and play professionally. But after reclassifying from 2022 to 2021, he committed to Memphis.

The 2022 NBA Draft on ABC received a 0.3 rating among adults 18-49, according to the latest Nielsen ratings.

The draft averaged a total of 1.77 million viewers. 

The most-watched program of the night was Young Shelton on CBS, which averaged 3.4 million viewers. 

Matas Buzelis, who is the No. 11 player in ESPN's Top 100 for the Class of 2023, has committed to the G League Ignite for the 23-24 season.

Buzelis will bypass college basketball and sign into the NBA's professional pathway program once he graduates from Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas next spring

Buzelis had narrowed his college choices to Kentucky, North Carolina, Florida State and Wake Forest.

The Oklahoma City Thunder and Cleveland Cavaliers competed against each other to acquire the No. 11 pick from the New York Knicks as both teams were believed to be targeting Ousmane Dieng.

"Cleveland and Oklahoma City were eyeing each other throughout the last few days. I think both wanting the same prospect, Ousmane Dieng, who is French but played in the Australia league last year.

"The Thunder were wondering if the Cavs were going to get to 11. The Cavs were wondering if the Thunder would take Dieng ahead of them. I know they both had talks with the Knicks throughout the day."

The Thunder traded three future first round picks to the Knicks to acquire No. 11 while also keeping No. 12.  

The Cavalier selected Ochai Agbaji at No. 14.

The Detroit Pistons have acquired the draft rights to Jalen Duren at No. 13 in a three-team trade with the New York Knicks and Charlotte Hornets.

The Pistons will send the 2025 first round pick originating with the Milwaukee Bucks to the Knicks. Detroit will also absorb the contract of Kemba Walker from the Knicks as part of the trade. The Knicks are pursuing cap space this offseason as they have been linked to Jalen Brunson in free agency.

The Pistons are expected to engage in buyout talks with Walker.

The Orlando Magic pivoted to Paolo Banchero after weeks of expectations that they would pick Jabari Smith at No. 1. Banchero didn't work out for the Magic in the redraft process. 

The Oklahoma City Thunder went on to pick Chet Holmgren at No. 2 as they had been rumored to do for weeks.
