Some Agents Were 'Unhappy' With Pro Day Televised On ESPN2

Oct 31, 2020 1:33 PM

Some agents were unhappy with the Rich Paul-inspired Pro Day that was televised Thursday night on ESPN2, sources told Marc Berman of the New York Post.

The event featured workouts with two Paul clients in Tyrese Maxey and Anthony Edwards, which agents thought was "unwarranted exposure" for Paul's clients.

“I was able to show I can knock down my outside shot consistently — catch-and-shoot, off the move — and I was able to show my conditioning because nobody has seen me because of COVID-19,’’ said Maxey of his Pro Day.

The Knicks were watching the Pro Day, sources told Berman.

“If anyone passes on him in a certain range, it’s going to be like the Jamal thing, the Tyler (Herro) thing,’’ said John Calipari of Maxey.

NBA insiders reportedly fear that the Knicks could be a pipeline team for Kentucky players

Knicks Rank Killian Hayes Behind LaMelo Ball For Point Guards In Upcoming Draft

Oct 21, 2020 1:06 AM

The New York Knicks have Killian Hayes ranked behind LaMelo Ball on their point guard board for the upcoming NBA Draft, sources told Marc Berman of the New York Post.

The Knicks, who have the No. 8 pick in the draft, won't necessarily draft Hayes if he is available.

The team was reportedly looking to draft a point guard, though Leon Rose is now flexible on position.

Hayes will do a private, in-person workout for the Knicks.

The Knicks are also interested in trading down should Ball or James Wiseman be off the board, according to sources.

Certain Teams To Skip Live Workouts Ahead Of NBA Draft

Oct 18, 2020 1:14 PM

A number of teams are expected to skip the live workout day for prospects ahead of the 2020 NBA Draft, sources told Marc Berman of the New York Post.

Pre-draft workouts this year will take place in a designated city, with scouts allowed to watch the workouts in person.

1-on-1 interviews are expected to be granted during the event, but are not guaranteed.

Certain teams believe that the risk of COVID-19 outweigh the rewards of insight gleaned from the workout, with executives believing that the best way to watch a prospect is during college practices.

“Doing your own homework and own background checks are more important,’’ one executive told Berman.
