Board Of Governors To Meet About Jersey Sponsorship

Mar 28, 2012 11:05 AM

The NBA Board of Governors will meet next month to discuss the possibility of adding sponsors to their jerseys.

Both players and coaches have expressed support in the concept.

"I've been trying to tell [the NBA]," Mark Cuban said. "If someone wants to give us $10 million, I'll make it happen."

Cuban believes it will become viable to David Stern if the money is substantial.

"If the amount's enough, David will jump up and down," Cuban said. "He's not going to do it for $200,000 from Power Balance, but if somebody offers us $25 million, it's done.

"We just have to work out the split with all the teams so everybody gets the benefits."

Club soccer teams have had sponsors on their jerseys for decades.

Maloof: Revenue Sharing Creates Substantially Better System For Small Markets

Mar 2, 2012 11:58 AM

Joe Maloof called the NBA's new revenue-sharing plan "a game-changer for every small market."

"Shoot, it's five times greater than it was before," Maloof said. "Things are different now because with revenue sharing, you have an opportunity with a small-market team to compete with the large market. So our position now [compared to] a couple years ago is completely different. We've got cap space. We're going to have revenue sharing.

"It's great for all the small markets, for the Utahs of the world, and the Portlands, the San Antonios. The league did a really good job with that. We can do very well with it."
