The Mavericks have waived Sean Williams.

The move can be a precursor to signing a veteran that was waived following the deadline.

The Blazers waived Mehmet Okur on Wednesday.

Okur, who was acquired at the deadline in a trade involving Gerald Wallace, was let go by Portland to create a roster spot for J.J. Hickson.

The Blazers have claimed J.J. Hickson from waivers, according to a source.

Hickson was already in New Orleans with the Warriors, who had an agreement with Golden State dependent on clearing waivers.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have waived center Ryan Hollins.

Hollins has averages of 3.7 points on .500 shooting and 2.3 rebounds in 15.1 minutes per game in 24 games (seven starts) this season. He has career averages of 4.2 points on .554 shooting and 2.3 rebounds in 13.2 minutes per game in 299 games (54 starts).

The New Orleans Hornets have claimed Chris Johnson off waivers.

Johnson was waived by the Portland Trail Blazers on Mar. 15.

Johnson played collegiately at LSU.

Derek Fisher opted out of the entire $3.4 million remaining on his contract for the 12-13 season, according to a source. Fisher will receive his remaining 11-12 salary in full.

Houston essentially traded Jordan Hill and his expiring contract to the Lakers for a first round pick.

When Fisher clears waivers, he will be free to sign with any team except for the Lakers or Rockets.

The Warriors and Suns appear to be the early frontrunners to sign J.J. Hickson if he clears waivers, according to sources.

Hickson was waived by the Kings on Monday after the team was unable to trade him at the deadline.

The Kings have officially waived J.J. Hickson.

Sacramento was unable to trade Hickson at the deadline.
