The NBA is considering changing the All-Star Game format. Since 2018, the leading vote-getters from each conference have been named captains and have selected their teams. While this change hoped to make the game more competitive, it hasn't really panned out that way.

One change the NBA is considering is a USA vs The World format. In the past, the league has been resistant, as that would give the approximately 100 international players a much greater chance of landing one of the 12 All-Star spots. That would leave over 300 US-born players competing for 12 spots on the USA side.

The only change under immediate consideration, per NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, is reverting back to the traditional Eastern Conference vs Western Conference format. The 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend will be hosted by the Indiana Pacers in Indianapolis in mid-February 2024.
