James Harden Wins 2018 NBA Most Valuable Player

James Harden has been named the 17-18 NBA Most Valuable Player, beating out LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Harden joins his fellow former first round picks of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, to win an MVP. Harden was runner-up in MVP voting in 2015 and 2017.

Harden is one of seven active players to win MVP, along with LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Dirk Nowitzki, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant and Derrick Rose.

Harden received 86 first place votes and 15 second place votes, followed by 15 first place votes for James to go with 79 second place votes and seven third place votes.

Davis received seven second place votes, 70 third place votes, 14 fourth place votes and four fifth place votes.

Damian Lillard and Russell Westbrook rounded out the top-5.

Daryl Morey has been named the 17-18 NBA Executive of the Year.

Morey constructed the roster that finished the regular season with the league's best record.

Morey has been general manager of the Rockets since 2007.

Morey received 11 out of 30 first place votes, four second place votes and one third place vote. Dennis Lindsey finished second with seven first place votes, five second place votes and four third place votes.

Lou Williams has been named the 17-18 NBA Sixth Man of the Year, beating out Eric Gordon and Fred VanVleet.

Williams previously won the award during the 14-15 season.

Gordon won the award last season.

Dwane Casey has been named the 17-18 NBA Coach of the Year, beating out Brad Stevens and Quin Snyder. 

The Toronto Raptors parted ways with Casey this offseason and he is now the head coach of the Detroit Pistons.

Casey received 39 first place votes, 27 second place votes and 16 third place votes. Snyder finished second with 21 first place votes, 30 third place votes and 22 third place votes.

Ben Simmons has been named Rookie of the Year for the 18-19 season, beating out Donovan Mitchell and Jayson Tatum.

Simmons was the first overall pick of the 2016 draft out of LSU.

Simmons received 90 first place votes, 10 second place votes and one third place vote, while Mitchell received 11 first place votes, 89 second place votes and one third place vote.

DeMar DeRozan Wins Magic Johnson Award

DeMar DeRozan has been named the winner of the 2017-18 Magic Johnson Award by the Professional Basketball Writers Association.

The award honors the player who best combines excellence on the basketball court with cooperation and dignity in dealing with the media and the public.

"I'm grateful to the reporters and broadcasters who cover our league, who love our game and who communicate with our fans every day. So thank you to the PBWA for this award,” said DeRozan. “It's very special for an L.A. guy to receive an honour named for Magic."

DeRozan averaged a team-best 23.0 points and a career-high 5.2 assists while helping the Raptors to a franchise-record 59 wins during the 2017-18 campaign.
