All-NBA Teams To Be Announced Prior To June 26th Award Show

Apr 24, 2017 6:23 PM

The NBA will announce their All-NBA teams before its inaugural awards show in late June.

Because certain players will become eligible for supermax extensions due to the rule, teams will need time to make offseason preparations.

Paul George and the Indiana Pacers are the most notable example of a player and franchise that will be impacted by the rule.

The award show takes place on June 26th.

Daryl Morey: Teams Either Openly Campaign For Awards Or Lie About It

Apr 12, 2017 7:54 PM

Daryl Morey was asked by Ethan Sherwood Strauss of ESPN during the TrueHoop Podcast whether he had any concern about making James Harden's MVP case "so vociferously if that can be seen as reflective negatively on other aspects of the team."

Morey has been quite openly campaigning for Harden's MVP candidacy in the media.

"I'm glad you asked that because that's another piece of frickin hypocrisy we have to deal with," said Morey. "Here's the reality, I'll make an analogy: every team gets asked about how involved the owner is. They're either say their owner is involved or they're lying. there's really no other answer. The reality is owners buy teams, they buy them for a reason, they're all involved in their teams in a very significant way. So they're either telling the truth or lying.

"When teams say they're not campaigning for their guy, their either being up front about it like us or they're lying. Or they're basically feeding it to their local beat guy. They're making calls behind the scenes. There's not a single team that doesn't do it. It's complete horeshit."

NBA Removes Team Employed Media From Award Voting

Apr 3, 2017 8:05 PM

The NBA will no longer allow team broadcasters to vote upon end of season awards, according to Pacers' play-by-play man Mark J. Boyle.

In the past, team employed broadcasters represented a large percentage of the media vote. Because of the potential conflict of interest involved in having team employees vote on awards that determine salaries for certain players.

The NBA's new designated veteran player extension will be one of the more impactful aspects of media voting due to its All-NBA qualification.

While most were thoughtful and genuine voters, some of the more egregious votes in the past have come from these types of media members.
