Russell Westbrook Named Most Valuable Player

Russell Westbrook has been named the 16-17 NBA Most Valuable Player.

James Harden and Kawhi Leonard were the other finalists for the award.

Westbrook joins Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Derrick Rose and Dirk Nowitzki as active players who have won MVP.

Westbrook averaged a triple double for the season and also led the NBA in PER.

Draymond Green has been named the 16-17 Defensive Player of the Year.

Rudy Gobert and Kawhi Leonard were the other two finalists for the award.

Green finished second in voting in each of the previous two seasons behind Leonard.

Marc Gasol, Tyson Chandler, Joakim Noah and Dwight Howard are the other active players who have won the award along with Green and Leonard.

Bob Myers Wins NBA Executive Of The Year

Bob Myers has been named the 16-17 NBA Executive of the Year.

Myers previously won the award for the 14-15 season.

The Golden State Warriors led the NBA in regular season wins for the third straight season. Myers was critical in signing Kevin Durant in free agency and then building out a solid supporting cast despite a lack of cap flexibility. 

Daryl Morey finished just two points behind Myers with 57 compared to 59. Myers received nine first place votes compared to seven for Morey. Dennis Lindsey finished third.

Mike D'Antoni Wins NBA Coach Of The Year

Mike D'Antoni has been named the 16-17 NBA Coach of the Year.

Erik Spoelstra finished second while Gregg Popovich finished third. D'Antoni received 68 first place votes.

D'Antoni was in his first season as head coach of the Houston Rockets.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Wins Most Improved Player

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been named the Most Improved Player of the 16-17 season.

Rudy Gobert and Nikola Jokic were the other two finalists for the award.

Antetokounmpo averaged 22.9 points, 8.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game in his fourth season in the NBA.

Antetokounmpo also was an All-NBA Second Team selection and made his first All-Star Game.

Dirk Nowitzki has been named the winner of the Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award.

Vince Carter, Tim Duncan, Shane Battier and Chauncey Billups are past recipients of the award.

Nowitzki is coming off his 19th year in the NBA.

"I'm pretty sure none of my teammates voted for me," said Nowitzki upon receiving the award.

Eric Gordon has been named the 16-17 NBA Sixth Man of the Year.

Andre Iguodala and Lou Williams were the other two finalists for the award.

Gordon averaged 16.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists in his first season with the Houston Rockets.

Gordon received 358 total points, narrowly beating out Iguodala with 326.

Malcolm Brogdon Wins Rookie Of The Year

Malcolm Brogdon has been named 16-17 NBA Rookie of the Year.

Joel Embiid and Dario Saric were the other two finalists for the award.

Brogdon was a second round pick out of Virginia. In his rookie season, Brogdon averaged 10.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 26.4 minutes per game with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Brogdon received 64 first place votes, 30 second place votes and four third place votes for 414 total points. Saric finished second with 266 total points (13 first place votes) while Embiid finished third with 177 total points (23 first place votes).

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert and San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard – the three finalists for the 2016-17 Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award – lead the 2016-17 NBA All-Defensive First Team, the NBA announced today.

Green (198 points, 99 First Team votes), Gobert (196 points, 97 First Team votes) and Leonard (192 points, 93 First Team votes) were overwhelming choices for the First Team, as selected by a global panel of 100 sportswriters and broadcasters.

The three players are vying for the Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award, with the winner announced tonight during the inaugural NBA Awards live on TNT (9 p.m. ET). Leonard earned the honor in each of the last two seasons, while Green finished second both times.

The 2016-17 NBA All-Defensive First Team also features guards Chris Paul of the LA Clippers (140 points, 61 First Team votes) and Patrick Beverley of the Houston Rockets (110 points, 38 First Team votes). Paul was named to the First Team for the sixth consecutive season and the seventh time overall. Beverley, a 2013-14 NBA All-Defensive Second Team choice, was selected to the First Team for the first time.

The NBA All-Defensive Second Team consists of guards Tony Allen of the Memphis Grizzlies (80 points, 17 First Team votes) and Danny Green of the Spurs (68 points, 21 First Team votes), center Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans (58 points) and forwards Andre Roberson of the Oklahoma City Thunder (53 points, 3 First Team votes) and Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks (35 points, 7 First Team votes).
