Damian Lillard and Joel Embiid have been named the NBA Players of the Week.

Embiid averaged 29.7 points and 12.0 rebounds per game as the 76ers went undefeated last week.

Lillard averaged 29.3 points and 8.0 assists per game.

Dragic averaged 23.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game to lead Miami to an undefeated week.

Williams averaged 35.0 points and 4.8 assists per game last week as the Clippers went 4-0.

LeBron James, Russell Westbrook Named Players Of The Month

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James and the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Russell Westbrook today were named the Kia NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Month, respectively, for games played in December. 

James ranked first in the Eastern Conference in assists (10.3 apg), third in scoring (27.5 ppg) and eighth in rebounding (8.2 rpg) as the Cavaliers went 9-5 in December.  He also tied for second in the East in steals with 1.93 per game.  The four-time Kia NBA MVP finished second in the East with nine double-doubles and recorded a conference-best five triple-doubles, including three straight from Dec. 14-17 to tie his career-long streak set in March 2009.  He notched at least 20 points in 13 of 14 games and recorded five games with 30 or more points.  The 33-year-old forward tallied at least 20 points, five rebounds and five assists 11 times.  

Westbrook averaged a triple-double of 27.8 points (fourth in the NBA), 10.6 assists (tops in the NBA) and 10.2 rebounds (fourth in the West) as the Thunder went 12-5 for the month, including wins over the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets and Toronto Raptors.  The 29-year-old guard posted six triple-doubles to improve his league-leading total to 12.  He shot 50.0 percent or better from the field in seven of his last nine games for the month.  On Dec. 22, Westbrook’s game-winning three-pointer capped a 30-point, 15-assist performance in a 120-117 victory over the Atlanta Hawks.

Jayson Tatum, Donovan Mitchell Named Rookies Of The Month

The Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum and the Utah Jazz’s Donovan Mitchell today were named the Kia NBA Eastern and Western Conference Rookies of the Month, respectively, for games played in December.

Tatum ranked second among Eastern Conference rookies in scoring (14.6 ppg) and fourth in rebounding (5.9 rpg) in 17 games in December for Boston, which went 11-6 to maintain its place atop the East standings.  He made a rookie-high 59 free throws and finished fourth or better among all first-year players in field goal percentage (52.9), three-point field goal percentage (45.1) and free throw percentage (81.9).  The 19-year-old forward scored in double figures 14 times, including two games with 20 points, and grabbed 10 rebounds three times.  Tatum recorded two of his three career double-doubles during the month.

Mitchell led all rookies in scoring (23.1 ppg) and steals (1.77 spg) in 13 games during December, and his 88.2 free throw percentage (45-of-51) was the highest mark among first-year players with more than 20 attempts.  He also ranked third among Western Conference rookies in field goal percentage (50.7) and fourth in assists (3.8 apg).  The 21-year-old guard opened the month by scoring 41 points in a 114-108 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Dec. 1, a Jazz rookie record and the first 40-point game by an NBA rookie since Blake Griffin in January 2011.  Mitchell scored more than 25 points seven times in December.

Dwane Casey, Steve Kerr Named Coaches Of The Month

The Toronto Raptors’ Dwane Casey and the Golden State Warriors’ Steve Kerr today were named the NBA Eastern and Western Conference Coaches of the Month, respectively, for games played in December.

Casey guided the Raptors to an Eastern Conference-best 11-3 record during December, including a 6-0 mark at Air Canada Centre where the Raptors have tied a franchise record with 12 straight victories. Toronto outscored opponents by 8.6 points per game during December, good for second in the NBA behind the Warriors (9.3 ppg). The Raptors logged five December wins in which they scored at least 100 points while holding their opponent under the century mark. Six of Toronto’s top 11 players in terms of minutes played per game have three or fewer years of NBA experience.

Kerr led the Warriors to an NBA-best 13-2 record in December, despite being without Stephen Curry for 11 games due to a sprained ankle. It was the highest winning percentage (.877) for December in franchise history. In addition to leading in point differential, Golden State paced the NBA in field goal percentage (50.9), assists (30.9 apg), blocks (8.3 bpg) and opponents field goal percentage (42.5). The Warriors’ current seven-game road winning streak is tied for the fourth longest in franchise history and their 14 road wins are tied with the Boston Celtics for most in the league.

Other nominees for the NBA Eastern and Western Conference Coaches of the Month were Chicago’s Fred Hoiberg, Cleveland’s Tyronn Lue, Houston’s Mike D’Antoni, Miami’s Erik Spoelstra, Minnesota’s Tom Thibodeau, Oklahoma City’s Billy Donovan, San Antonio’s Gregg Popovich and Washington’s Scott Brooks.

Bradley Beal and Lou Williams have been named the NBA's Players of the Week for games played between December 25th and 31st.

Beal averaged 26.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.5 steals while shooting .467 from the field and .387 from three-point range to lead Washington to a 3-1 record.

Williams won his second career Player of the Week award by helping the Clippers to a 3-0 week behind averages of 28.0 points and 4.7 assists and shooting splits of 50% from the field, 48% from three-point range and 87% from the free-throw line in 31.4 minutes.
