Aaron Scales Decommits From Missouri

Oct 31, 2011 3:40 PM

Aaron Scales, a 6-foot-9, 250-pound power forward prospect from the American Basketball Institute in Charlotte, N.C., announced he has de-committed from Missouri.

His coach, John Jordan, who made the announcement in an email to several media members, cited the uncertain outcome of the NCAA investigation into allegations of impropriety by Frank Haith while at Miami as the reason for Scales to change his mind.

“Actually, he’s been thinking about it for the last few weeks. It’s just a tough situation,” Jordan said in a phone interview Monday morning. “He really likes Coach Haith. He’d love to play for him, but with these allegations pending, it’s a situation where we just can’t gamble on this kind of situation.”

Willie Cauley Commits To Kentucky

Oct 31, 2011 2:48 PM

Willie Cauley has committed to Kentucky as a member of the class of 2012.

Cauley is a 7-foot, 230 pound center generally considered as a top-40 member of his class.

Cauley plays at Olathe (Kan.) Northwest.

“I would say he’s a very, very high-level run and jump athlete,” Rivals.com Eric Bossi said. “And he’s also very fluid from side-to-side. He can get from one end of the floor to the other better (than most big men). His offense needs some work but I wouldn’t say he’s totally raw.

Jordan Hare Commits To Rhode Island

Oct 19, 2011 11:21 AM

Jordan Hare has verbally committed to Rhode Island.

"It wasn't a case of wanting to make a decision so I wouldn't have to worry about it during the season," Hare said. "Everything just felt comfortable when I went to Rhode Island.

"I liked the coaches, the system, the school. I had no problem seeing myself playing there."

Hare also had offers from Michigan and Michigan State, along with several other schools.

Some of the comfort level comes from Rhode Island assistant coach Preston Murphy, a Saginaw native who played for Nouvel Catholic Central and Rhode Island.

"Rhode Island has been kind of recruiting me since ninth grade, so there was that familiarity," Hare said. "Plus Coach Murphy is from Saginaw, so that made it even more comfortable."

Hare averaged 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks per game during his junior season.

Hare said Rhode Island coach Jim Baron did not tell him what position to focus on during his senior season.

"His system is that they find the best place for your skills, instead of trying to change your skills to fit into a position," Hare said. "They'll work with me and play me where I can best help the team.

"I love their system. Defensively, they pressure on every possession and they run. It's a lot like how we play in Saginaw."

Kentucky Begins To Show Interest In Justise Winslow

Oct 17, 2011 3:27 PM

Justise Winslow, one of the top 20 prospects of the 2014 class is now receiving interest from Kentucky.

Arizona, Houston and Baylor are “showing the most interest,” while he also has offers from Arizona State, Florida, Rice, Texas and Harvard.

“A lot of schools, I just have to stay humble and not let it all get to my head,” Winslow said. “I’m going to wait around and see how it plays out.”

Winslow's father Rickie Winslow was a member of Houston's famous Phi Slamma Jamma team and a first round pick in 1987 by Chicago.

“I know about Kentucky,” he said. “I know it’s the dribble-drive (offense) and most of the guys are one-and-done when they go there.”
