Mitch Creek Faces Assaut Charges, Will Not Play, Train With Team In Australia

Mar 15, 2021 5:18 AM

Australian Boomer Mitch Creek has been charged by police with alleged assault charges and as a result will not train or play with his club, the South East Melbourne Phoenix, while the matter is dealt with.

Creek, who is the franchise player with the club after playing in the G-League with the Long Island Nets, denies each of the charges and the matter will now be dealt with in the courts.

"The NBL and South East Melbourne Phoenix are deeply concerned by the nature of the charges against Mitch Creek and take this matter extremely seriously," reads a statement released by the Australian NBL.

Creek signed 10 day contracts with the Brooklyn Nets and Minnesota Timberwolves in 2018-2019 and has been one of the Australian league's strongest performers so far in 2021.
