Calipari Already Advising Wall To Declare After Season

Jan 21, 2010 11:32 AM

John Calipari has no doubt that John Wall should leave Kentucky after his freshman year to the NBA.

"If he came to me and said he was the No. 1 pick in the draft, and he wanted to come back, we'd probably be wrestling on the floor," Calipari said.

Calipari said that he doesn't advise most of his players to go early to the NBA, but Wall is an exception because he could go so high.

Calhoun Takes Medical Leave Of Absence

Jan 19, 2010 5:41 PM

Jim Calhoun took a leave of absence from his duties as head coach of UConn on Tuesday to deal with undisclosed medical issues.

Calhoun had prostate cancer in 2003 and skin cancer twice, most recently in 2008.

Dr. Peter Schulman, Calhoun's primary-care physician, said in a statement he advised Calhoun to take time off "to address some temporary medical issues, none of which involve any previous medical conditions that he has dealt with."

Associate head coach George Blaney will run the Huskies (11-6) in Calhoun's absence.

"Our primary concern is coach Calhoun's health and his complete recovery," UConn athletic director Jeff Hathaway said. "We will do everything possible to support Coach during this time."
