Arsalan Kazemi is seeking a hardship waiver allowing him to play immediately after transferring from Rice to Oregon.

Kazemi had to find a school on the quarter system once he left Rice if he wanted to play this season.

Rice isn't expected to fight Kazemi's waiver.

Dezmine Wells has decided to enroll at Maryland following his expulsion at Xavier.

Wells was an all-Atlantic 10 rookie selection.

"The last couple of weeks have been the toughest time in my life for my family and I," Wells said in a release. "I've learned that it is a major responsibility that comes with being a student-athlete at all times. I'm thankful God has blessed me with a second opportunity to continue my education."

Wells visited Kentucky, Memphis, Maryland and Oregon from Thursday to Monday.

Wells will petition to enroll immediately at Maryland.

Dez Wells has narrowed his transfer options down to Maryland, Oregon and Memphis and plans to decide within the next 48 hours, according to a source.

“I credit Maryland, they really got his spirits up,” the source said. “It was a blessing to me to hear. It started out a rough week for him. He went through Kentucky, Memphis, but Maryland was the first time I heard the excitement back in his voice.”

Wells may be leaning toward the Terrapins.

“Just by his excitement,” the source said. “If I had to bet the house on it, I would be betting in the blind, I would have to say, my gut, I know how he felt, sounds like possibly Maryland.”
